Simenon's wife, who took over his busniess affairs, had it wrtitten into the BBC contract that the series could only be shown once and all copies destroyed afterwards. This is the reason only a couple of episodes survive. When Simenon found out about it later he could only ask 'why?'

The German speaking viewers will not hear the theme music by Ron Grainer, instead a musette theme composed by Ernst August Quelle is used for all episodes. On soundtrack samplers, e.g. "Strassenfeger", only this most popular theme usually is presented in Germany.
