  • This is a highly intelligent 1960's British detective show. We're fortunate that the series was preserved, as so many classic UK series were not. You can tell that the budget was probably small, as was commonly true of UK 1960's series. They could not compete with the Yanks on budget. But the quality of the acting was very high, as we often find with British TV series. It's B&W, as was common then.

I want to particularly mention the actress, Gillian Lewis, who was part of the main trio. Her work in the show is a delight. And she was one of the most attractive women to ever appear on British TV, period. She projects an elegance, sensuality and depth that adds much to the many merits of this series.

Note: there are two DVD sets available for this series. Miss Lewis only appears in the first one.

Despite both it's age and the fact that it is black & white this police drama is FAR better than most of today's police-style dramas...complete with their smarmy leading men and gorgeous stylishly dressed police inspectors. The three leading characters do an ASTOUNDINGLY entertaining job of presenting this series....both as mystery-filled as the best Agatha Christie and realistic police procedure ( old style that is ) and is well written and well acted from start to finish and EVERY episode meets the high standards they obviously aspired to. I cannot recommend this series too highly and I wish there had been more than the three seasons that were made. Enjoy them if you have the chance as they are delightful treasures of a bygone era of television.....when good writing and excellent acting were EXPECTED......not just desired. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!
  • Joyously enjoyable whimsical series well worth a watch. I recommend this to anyone who likes left field British TV at its best. No spoilers here just find it and watch it you will be entertained...and that's the point isn't it.
