Cate Blanchett announced earlier this week that she is considering stepping away from acting. In a recent interview with Radio Times, the two-time Oscar winner revealed, “My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting. [There are] a lot of things I want to do with my life.”
While Blanchett has remained busy with high-profile projects — including Disclaimer for Apple TV+ and Jim Jarmusch’s upcoming film Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, c0starring Adam Driver — she sounded sincere about stepping away from the business. Fame, she admits, has never felt entirely natural.
“When you go on a talk show, or even here now, and then you see sound bites of things you’ve said, pulled out and italicized, they sound really loud. I’m not that person,” she explained. “I make more sense in motion – it’s been a long...

It cannot be understated how huge "Baywatch" was. It was a goofy show with lightweight drama, resting somewhere on a matrix that incorporated soap operas, "Gilligan's Island"-like sitcoms, and 1970s "jiggle" shows like "Charlie's Angels." The central appeal of "Baywatch" was, of course, witnessing attractive people in swimsuits running dramatically down the beaches of Los Angeles. David Hasselhoff's star stayed high in the sky thanks to "Baywatch," and many of his co-stars -- notably Pamela Anderson -- became world-famous.
"Baywatch" debuted in 1989 and ran a powerful 241 episodes over 11 seasons, finally drawing to a close in 2001. The final two seasons were relocated to Hawai'i, and the title of the show was changed to "Baywatch: Hawaii," even though it retained the same cast and premise.
Weirdly, as soon as "Baywatch" ended, its cultural clout dried up. "Baywatch" was almost instantly seen as a curio of the 1990s, and 2000s audiences...

Tim Curry will publish Vagabond: A Memoir in hardcover, e-book, and audio book on October 7 via Grand Central Publishing.
The 256-page book serves as a celebration of the actor’s life’s work — from his breakout role as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and his iconic depiction of Pennywise in It to his critically acclaimed role as King Arthur in both the Broadway and West End versions of Spamalot and beyond.
Over the course of five decades and dozens of roles across a variety of mediums, Curry redefined what it meant to be a character actor, portraying heroes and villains alike with complexity, nuance, and a genuine understanding of human darkness. Say what you will about the Twilight books and films, one thing is certain: The films involved a lot of acting talent. Are they a bit too campy at times? Yes, and maybe the vampires are a bit too brooding for their own good. These works don't mine the emotional depth as the Harry Potter series does, but they still somehow entertain.
The movies are about much more than vampires. There are werewolves, too. After all, are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? That might depend on whether you want to be a vampire or a werewolf.
But the acting talent involved might be enough to push you through whatever you don't like about the campiness of the series. Robert Pattinson plays vampire Edward, who falls head over heels for Kristen Stewart's (Charlie's Angels), and vice versa, before werewolf Jacob (played by Taylor Lautner) sticks his dirty nose into their business.

Kristen Stewart Indie Film(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Kristen Stewart didn’t just bet on herself. She practically threw her wallet out the window for On the Road. At the peak of her Twilight fame, when Hollywood was throwing checks at her like confetti, Stewart signed on to a film that paid her pennies compared to the blockbuster paydays she was used to. And she had zero regrets.
Back in 2012, Stewart starred in On the Road, a film based on Jack Kerouac’s legendary novel. The movie followed a wild cross-country adventure with Stewart playing Marylou, alongside Garrett Hedlund’s Dean and Sam Riley’s Sal. It was the ultimate road trip movie, packed with rebellion, freedom, and all the restless energy of Kerouac’s words (via Cheatsheet). The film also boasted a stacked cast – Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, and Elisabeth Moss – but it was still an indie project.

Patty Maloney, an actress whose 30-plus year career included memorable turns on Little House on the Prairie, Syd & Marty Krofft’s Far Out Space Nuts, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the Star Wars Holiday Special, has died. Her passing was confirmed via a post on the official Syd & Marty Krofft Facebook page. She was 89.
Maloney stood 3 feet 11 inches and weighed about 60 pounds. Her stature and pantomime stills meant she often worked in costume. And work she did, with memorable roles on some of the most popular TV shows of the ’70s an ’80s.
On her first series, the actress played the furry and funny Honk on the Kroffts’ Far Out Space Nuts, a character who spoke only in horn-like honks. The show was a Saturday morning staple for kids in the ’70s, especially via syndication. She also appeared on 13 episodes of The Krofft Superstar Hour and other of the duo’s shows.

Patty Maloney, the 3-foot-11 actress who played the alien Honk on the Sid & Marty Krofft family show Far Out Space Nuts and Chewbacca’s son, Lumpy, on the long-lamented Star Wars Holiday Special, has died. She was 89.

Spoilers for "Lazarus" follow.
Shinichirō Watanabe is an anime auteur, most famous for directing 26-episode Space Western "Cowboy Bebop." The legacy of that show colors his career beyond just people remembering it as one of the best anime ever. Watanabe's later projects have sometimes felt like a response to or evolution of "Bebop." (His science-fiction musical drama "Carole & Tuesday" is set on the same terraformed Mars that "Bebop" often visited.)
The same can definitely be said of Watanabe's latest directorial project: "Lazarus." The series, animated at studio Mappa and produced by Sola Entertainment, is a 13-episode science-fiction action-thriller. Set in 2055 — similar to "Bebop," this future is within our lifetimes — the crux of the show is a miracle painkiller, Hapna.
Its inventor, Dr. Skinner, announces that the drug was designed to mutate after three years and soon, Hapna will kill everyone who took it. That means everyone in the world,...

The 1976 action series "Charlie's Angels" was a massive success for a very simple reason: the lead actresses were dazzling. Yes, the premise was fun, but most of the show's fans will sooner talk about how the original Angels -- Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, and Farrah Fawcett -- were objects of their crushes. The makers of "Charlie's Angels" seemingly spent just as much time filming the Angels running in slow-motion as they did setting up plots or working on character development.
The series followed three recent graduates of the LAPD's police academy who, despite their excellent fighting and crime-stopping skills, are given menial, sexist jobs that do not challenge them. Instead, they pursue a job with a secretive private investigation company, run by a wealthy, off-screen benefactor named Charlie Townsend (John Forsythe). He gives them assignments in secret (Charlie has a lot of enemies) and nicknames them his "Angels."

Subhash K Jha revisits Mani Shankar’s spy drama 16 December, which released in 2002.
The imminent Hollywoodization of mainstream Hindi cinema continued full-throttle with debutant director Mani Shankar’s slick espionage flick 16 December, which masters all the tricks of the tantalizing trek from buildup to climax in one sleek swish of special effects, heightened drama and collaborative chemistry.
In trying to take on slick Hollywood thrillers like Mission Impossible and Charlie’s Angels, Mani mingles history with hearsay, fact with fiction, and escapist thrills with pseudo-documentation. The director doesn’t quite negotiate the distance that divides our cinema from Hollywood. But he makes a defiantly direct effort to make an uncompromised, historically rooted spy thriller, which is more in the league of the Nick Carter pulp novels than the films of Brian de Palma or Ridley Scott.
What really distinguishes Shankar’s film is its winking homage to Indian history. Though 16 December...

For a comedian as beloved as Bill Murray, the guy sure has a long history of bad behavior. He spent six figures paying off that “much younger” crew member he straddled on the set of Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut. He yelled at Geena Davis on the set of Quick Change when he wasn’t trying to use a vibrating massager on her off-camera. He told Lucy Liu she “couldn’t act” during Charlie’s Angels, earning punches in return. But he saved some of his worst behavior for What About Bob?, his hit ‘90s comedy with Richard Dreyfuss.
Far Out recently rounded up a series of troubling stories about Murray on that film’s set, including throwing producer Laura Ziskin in a lake. She told the Los Angeles Times that Murray tossed her in “playfully,” but the argument leading up to it was anything but. If only that was the end of it.

Cameron Diaz's Comeback Movie Lands On Netflix's Elite Most-Viewed Charts 3 Months After Its Release

The new Cameron Diaz movie has become a global streaming sensation. The American actor became an A-list star off the back of prominent romantic comedies from the late 1990s, including My Best Friend's Wedding (in which she played Julia Roberts' romantic rival) and There's Something About Mary (in which she played the title role opposite Ben Stiller). She has also taken on major projects in other genres, including starring in 2000's Charlie's Angels and its 2003 sequel Full Throttle, as well as voicing Princess Fiona in DreamWorks' animated Shrek franchise.
However, for a full decade between 2014 and 2024, she starred in no movies at all. Cameron Diaz retired from acting, with her final project until 2025 being the 2014 remake of Annie starring Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx. She spent that decade focusing on her family, working to "reclaim" her life, and working in the wellness space, including launching an organic wine brand and publishing The Longevity Book.

The Masters of the Universe franchise has been going strong for over forty years now, consisting of multiple lines of action figures, several animated TV shows, a bunch of comic book series, and much more including a live-action film adaptation that was released in 1987 and starred Dolph Lundgren as the iconic character He-Man. Although that ’87 film has a strong fan following, it wasn’t received very well in general… but now, Mattel (the toy company behind the franchise) is ready to give the idea of a live-action Masters of the Universe film another try. Set up at Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, the new Masters of the Universe is aiming for a theatrical release date of June 5, 2026 – and here’s everything we know about it:

A female CIA operative leads a dangerous undercover mission. A just-out-of-jail gangster relocates to the sticks. An oil company fixer deals with cartels, corporate intrigue and his chaotic ex-wife. A real-life cowboy, said to be the inspiration for The Lone Ranger, has his life more fully dramatized. And a man leading a private prison struggles to maintain order.
What all of these shows have in common – besides being massive hits for streaming service Paramount+ — is the involvement of one man: Taylor Sheridan. While TV remains an unpredictable business, Sheridan has become as close as a talent can get to representing a sure thing, launching one success after another. Sheridan often creates, executive produces and writes most of the episodes of every season. If his shows are cattle, he’s the lone cowboy.

The action comedy Old Guy is an interesting take on two genres that audiences have grown accustomed to over the decades. The movie follows aging assassin Danny Dolinski (played by Christoph Waltz) as he's forced to train a much younger replacement, Wilhborg (Cooper Hoffman). Alongside Wihlborg and his close friend Anata (Lucy Liu), Danny learns about more important things in life and the film reveals itself to be heartwarming as well as funny.
Old Guy director Simon West and Kill Bill alum Liu spoke to Cbr about the film. They discussed how it's not strictly a movie about a hitman, and some of the challenges that came with making something that crosses multiple genres. Plus, they reflected on Anata's character and a potential future for the characters.

Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) will return to the big screen in the upcoming action comedy Old Guy. It marks an interesting departure from his recent projects, The Portable Door and Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio. The two-time Oscar winner is joined by Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels) and Cooper Hoffman (Saturday Night) in the R-rated film directed by Simon West (Con Air). In contrast to Waltz, Liu has had recent momentum in feature film projects after starring in Presence, Red One and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Meanwhile, for Hoffman, Old Guy will be his fourth feature film role after breaking out as a lead in Licorice Pizza and working on Wildcat and Saturday Night. This magnetic trio of actors is an incredible combination of long-withstanding stars and rising talent who will entertain and take the audience for a ride in this buddy action comedy.

Back In Action. (L to R) Cameron Diaz as Emily and Jamie Foxx as Matt in Back In Action. Cr. John Wilson/Netflix © 2024. Jamie Foxx, an Oscar winner known for electrifying performances across genres, is no stranger to action-packed films. From his intense role in White House Down to the vampire-hunting thrills of Day Shift and his turn as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Foxx has seen—and been part of—some truly remarkable stunt work. But according to him, his latest project, Back in Action, showcases the evolution of stunt work in a way that left him thoroughly impressed. The action-comedy, which marks the on-screen reunion of Foxx and Cameron Diaz, is packed with adrenaline-pumping sequences. Diaz, herself a veteran of action films like Charlie’s Angels and Knight and Day, certainly knows her way around high-octane stunts. Still, even with their combined experience, both stars were blown away...

Drew Barrymore is a child of Hollywood royalty and a Golden Globe winning actress whose career has spanned nearly her entire life, making her first credited screen performance at the age of three. But how many of her titles remain classics? Let’s take a look back at 15 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Barrymore was born to a celebrated acting family though she never really knew her famous ancestors. Her grandfather was John Barrymore, star of “Grand Hotel”, “Twentieth Century” and “Dinner at Eight” among others. She is also the great grand niece of Oscar winners Lionel Barrymore and Ethel Barrymore. Lionel won one of the earliest Oscars as Best Actor for “A Free Soul” in 1931 but is probably best remembered as the villainous Mr. Potter of the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” His sister Ethel won the 1945 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “None but the Lonely Heart...

Cameron Diaz, the Hollywood star of films like The Mask, The Holiday and Charlie's Angels, has recently returned to the spotlight with the Netflix film Back in Action. Although not many things have changed in eleven years, Diaz was shocked by how different film sets are today: "The level of security of safety you feel as a woman now on set is… I never felt that before this film."
Diaz recently appeared in the 2025 action comedy Back in Action alongside Jamie Foxx. In the movie, she plays Emily, a CIA operative who gets married to Matt (Foxx), another CIA operative, and after having their cover blown, they decide to retire. When a group of ruthless mercenaries finds them fifteen years later, the couple is forced to go on the run and defend their children.

Will Smith’s 2005 blockbuster movie Hitch‘s sequel is reportedly in development. If the stars align, this could be his chance to correct a mistake from the original movie.
Will Smith in Hitch | Credits: Sony Pictures Releasing
Although Smith is admittedly more of an action and sci-fi hero, his rom-com avatar came as a fresh surprise to fans. Eva Mendes’ hard-edged cynic against him presented the perfect contrast. So it was no surprise that the movie became such a big hit across the world.
However, things might have been completely different if the makers had gone for the original plan with Cameron Diaz. Regardless, now that Will Smith himself is the one making the sequel, he has the perfect opportunity to rectify that mistake.
Will Smith claimed Cameron Diaz was supposed to be cast against him in Hitch
Hitch admittedly remains to this day one of the most beloved movies of Will Smith’s career.

Raunchy rom-com There's Something About Mary is climbing the streaming chart, currently sitting at number six on Hulu. Starring Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz, the comedy was directed by the Farrelly Brothers (Peter and Bobby), and became a massive smash hit when it premiered in July 1998. The film went on to earn nearly $370 million at the global box office against a $23 million production budget. It currently sits at a positive 84% critical and, surprisingly, only 61% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
Following the success of Dumb and Dumber in 1994, and, to a lesser extent, Kingpin in 1996, the Farrelly Brothers went to work on There's Something About Mary, which starred Stiller as Ted, Diaz as Mary, and Matt Dillon as Healy. Years after a disastrous high school date with his crush Mary (you have to see it to believe it), Ted gets another chance years later when his best friend Dom (Chris Elliott) suggests he find her.

Television reboots and revivals have become a staple of the modern entertainment landscape.
Some breathe new life into beloved franchises, while others fall flat and alienate both old and new audiences.
But what separates a successful reboot from one that misses the mark? The answer lies in a delicate balance between respecting the original, bringing something fresh to the table, and ensuring there’s a real reason for the reboot to exist.
(Curtis Bonds Baker/Netflix) The Difference Between Reboots and Revivals
First, it’s important to distinguish between a reboot and a revival.
Revivals continue the story with established continuity — Cobra Kai and Dallas are prime examples, bringing back original characters and expanding the world to include a new generation.
Reboots, on the other hand, start fresh, often with a new cast and a modernized take on the original.

After 11 years away from our screens, Cameron Diaz has returned to dominate Netflix alongside Jamie Foxx with their espionage action-comedy, "Back in Action." The film sees the duo playing loving parents and former CIA agents who are forced back into the field when their old enemies resurface and disrupt their happy home life. For Diaz, of course, engaging in some well-choreographed fight scenes isn't new. After all, she starred in a pair of "Charlie's Angels" films in 2000 and 2003 and even joined Tom Cruise on a whirlwind adventure in the 2010 action-comedy "Knight and Day."
Now that she's returned to making movies after disappearing from Hollywood for a decade, will we be seeing more of Diaz on our screens in the future? More specifically, could her future include the types of meet-cutes -- ones that frequently end with her being swept off her feet -- commonly found in the rom-coms she used to star in?...

Cameron Diaz has shared how different she finds working on movie production sets, after a decade away from the screen.

Hollywood Feuds, On-Set Clashes, Celeb Fights, Movie Drama, Behind-the-Scenes (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Hollywood lives and breathes drama — but well, folks, the literal action happens off-screen. Be it screaming matches or brawls, some of the biggest names in the industry have clashed behind the scenes, which left a trail of broken friendships, bruised egos, and unfathomable feuds.
Some fights ended with handshakes. Others? Not so much.
Bill Murray vs. Lucy Liu
The set of Charlie’s Angels had more than high kicks and undercover missions. Lucy Liu alluded in 2021 that Bill Murray stopped filming to unload on her. He hurled insults and claimed she “couldn’t act.” Drew Barrymore later backed her up, saying she witnessed the whole stuff. Liu didn’t just take it; she threw punches before crew members separated them.
Murray’s grudge ran deep. If Liu were in it, he refused to return for the 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Cameron Diaz’s Hollywood Deal (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Cameron Diaz didn’t just play a lousy teacher; she nailed a legendary deal. She signed for Bad Teacher at $1M, but with a back-end cut of profits, she walked away with a mind-blowing $40M after the film hit $215M worldwide.
Put it bluntly, Diaz walked away with a massive $40 million. That’s a 3,900 percent pay bump. No, this isn’t a math lesson—it’s Hollywood history.
But let’s talk numbers. Bad Teacher had a production budget of just $19 million. It wasn’t some mega blockbuster with insane budgets and expectations. Nope. It was a comedy with a sharp script and a killer cast. And Diaz knew precisely how to cash in on that success. Her negotiating skills turned what could’ve been a modest payday into a legendary one.

Four years after Lucy Liu made headlines for alleging Bill Murray’s bad behavior on the set of Charlie’s Angels, the actress is now revealing why she chose to call him out.
In 2021, while filming the 2000 action comedy, Liu told the Los Angeles Times that she had a disconcerting moment with Murray, who began to “hurl insults” at her while they were shooting a scene.
While noting that she felt she had “the least amount of privilege” of anyone on set, the actress chose to defend herself against Murray anyway.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Liu said she stood by her decision.
“I really didn’t think about it,” Liu said about sticking up for herself. “I would’ve done that in any situation. I think when I sense something is not right, I am going to protect myself. It’s an innate thing to do if you feel there’s injustice,...
