Ikki, the Phoenix Saint, is an exceptional Saint in many regards. Notwithstanding the fact that his Armor grants him virtual immortality and the fact that he's the first man ever to win the Phoenix Cloth, Ikki's a powerhouse among the other Bronze Saints. As the anime's first villain, he easily takes on the other 4 Bronze Saints at the same time; later his powers and abilities enable him to defeat Silver Saints with ease. He also is a psychologically complex character, scarred by a traumatic training but yet a loving and protective brother to Shun. His maturity and long term strategic choices put him at odds with the other, often hot-headed Bronze Saints. Even though he doesn't team up with the quartet, he still manages to show up at the right time and at the right place to save the day.
In Spain and other countries of Latin America, the original release in the '90s had a different intro, with scenes from the movie "Abel" and a song in Spanish (which wasn't a translation of an original but instead a translation of the French intro from "Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque").
