  • It's a pure comedy movie, not like nowadays comedy movies filled with double meaning dialogue and jokes.

Really liked akshay-kader khan comedy combo.

The music and songs of the movie were horrible.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Well after the success of SBK and KKK came another Khiladi Movie aka Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi. The movie is something different, instead of more and more action, the movie has very little action but more comedy. Here we have Akki as a joker who has fallen in love with Juhi Chawla the daughter of a big business man Kader Khan. Akki wants to marry her and so does she but Kader won't let this happen as Akki comes from a middle classed background and to win his love he has to make 1 crore in 1 month. However, many funny problems happen and Akki does a number of silly things and the movie gets pretty funny. He fights a fat sumo and wins four million, he gets the girl at the end. The movie is pretty OK but the comedy is really good. The movie is pretty clichéd with many flaws and some scenes just pop out of nowhere.

Overall: Another funny movie with a bad story 6.6/10 but after further thinking 6/10 Worth a watch for comedy

Mr and Mrs Khiladi review :

Two David Dhawan movies clashed on same day - Deewana Mastana and Mr and Mrs Khiladi. While Deewana Mastana fared better mainly due to Govinda's clap worthy histrionics, Mr and Mrs Khiladi was also a decent earner at the box office.

Unlike Akshay's earlier action films in the Khiladi franchise, this one was an out and out comedy with Akshay and Juhi Chawla in lead roles and Kader Khan and Paresh Rawal providing able comic support. In fact, Paresh Rawal frequently breaks the fourth wall to talk to the audience quite like Ashok Kumar Saahab in the popular '80s TV serial Hum Log.

Akshay and Juhi shared an awesome chemistry on screen. Akshay's fight with a Sumo wrestler was much publicised as the film's highlight but unlike his earlier encounter with Undertaker in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), this one turned out to be quite pheeka!!.

  • I saw this on TV this morning, and was all sceptical that it can't seriously be good!

So I watched it abit and was hooked! Funny punchlines and it was just so different.

Alot of dancing and singing, but that just made it cooler.

So basicly, I liked this movie, and kinda shame that I didn't put it on tape. As I said earlier, funny and entartaining.

    9/10
  • This was Akki's first film with DD who is known for his mad films, Akki had done a comic role before in SUHAAG(94) but here he plays a full comedian

The movie is a full crap and surprisingly DD released it with another film of his DEEWANA MASTANA which had better actors like Anil and Govinda(at least that time) and that film worked

This film is a complete crap film and makes no sense and it doesn't even keep you entertained, A must for comedies

The comedy scenes are trite while the main plot is itself senseless and the attempts to comedy are foolhardy though the message is a nice one

Direction by DD is bad Music is okay

Akshay seems uncomfortable in the comedy set up as it was his first attempt and he was a bad actor those days He shouts too loud and comes across as a poor man's Govinda Juhi is amazing in her comic role and steals the show Kader repeats his act, Paresh is awful Satish Kaushik annoys Gulshan Grover has an indefinite role
  • Just a few months ago, I watched Mr. & Mrs Khiladi for the first time. I remember staying up way past midnight just so I could watch this movie and let me tell you; I enjoyed each and every minute of it! Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi is about a jobless man named Raja (Akshay Kumar) who blindly believes in astrology. His uncle, who is an astrologer tells him that within one year he will become king, so Raja decides to sit back and live the easy life until he becomes king. He then happens to fall in love with Shalu (Juhi Chawla) who is from a very rich and wealthy family. The two of them decide to get married, but Shalu's dad won't allow the marriage to take place unless Raja accumulates a sum of one lakh rupees. It is so hilarious to see how Raja earns the one lakh rupees!

As for the acting, both Juhi Chawla and Akshay Kumar delivered brilliant comical performances! The film has so many scenes that will leave you literally rolling to the floor! I absolutely LOVED the scene where Juhi was taking her dad for a spin and was purposely crashing into everything in the car's path. She ran into all sorts of stuff and even crashed into Johnny Lever, who played a bandaged patient in the street. With Johnny on top of the car, Juhi went off this ramp-like thing and the car was flying in the air until it landed on top of this parked car which belonged to a bunch of midgets, it was so funny! Another good scene was the one where Akshay Kumar had to fight this gigantic sumo wrestler, it was funny and disgusting at the same time!

Moving on to the music, I loved all the songs but my two favorites from this film would have to be "Samose Mein Aloo" and "Jumme Ke Jumme."

If you haven't seen this film yet, you should do so as soon as possible. It's great fun to watch and you'll be laughing all the way! Not only that, but once you see it you'll be hooked on it and you will want to watch it over and over again!

    Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi deserves a 10/10!!!
  • When Raja and his Mama were at the gym, Vicky was trying to rape Shalu while everyone was just watching. Raja was not allowed to fight with anyone before 12 am. So, he sees everything for two minutes, and just when clock ticked 12, he beats Vicky and partners alone. This single scene defines the film, which can be described at best as plain stupidity.

Story: Raja(Akshay Kumar) trusts his luck that he is destined to become a king(i.e, rich) and he doesn't even need to work before that. Chanda Mama(Satish Kaushik) is the one who made him believe so. Shaalu(Juhi Chawla), for some reason, wants to marry this idiot but her father Badri Prasad(Kader Khan) wants a hard working man as his son-in-law. On other hand, Chanda mama advices Raja to stay away from girls. Will Shaalu be able to convince her father, Raja and Chanda Mama?

I don't feel that a film has to be completely logical but this one is devoid of any. The actions of all the characters at every time are plain stupid. No girl will ever love a boy who is hostile towards everyone, treats her father badly and is so rude. The story gets more stupid as it progresses. Both of them were taking marriage very lightly. The way he gets money is stupid, and so is the ending.

The songs not good enough, and are distracting. A special mention for, "Jab tak rahega samose mein aloo",like what they were upto. Who wrote the lyrics?

I used to enjoy it as a kid. So, it's my personal bias which kept me from giving it the lowest possible score. Or maybe because the meassage they wanted to convey is good.
  • Everyone might think that Hera Pheri was Akki's first good comedy wrong, his first good comedy was Mr ans Mrs khiladi. Although this movie was not a hit and Hear Pheri was, this movie is still great fun to watch.

Here you see Akki's funny side all the way though the movie. There are some scenes that don't make sense but apart from that this movie is truly a gem to watch and i recommend every one to watch this movie.

I have got this movie and i can safely say that if you watch this movie once you will see it over and over and over again the same as i did.

Never know you might want to get a copy for yourself to keep.
  • No doubt 90s best comedy film Song ,story acting superb
  • Everybody knows Akshay Kumar was a action hero in 90s but he was too good in comedy... One of the best Comedy movie before Hera Pheri.

I can't really make out why this film was made other than to cash in on the Akshay 'Khiladi' craze and to pair him (finally) with Juhi Chawla. The film has a bizarre charm to it, simultaneously sunny and silly and unapologetically illogical. Akshay gives a rare glimpse of a latent knack for comedy, but expectedly Juhi Chawla dominates the show with her patent (and now patented) perfect comic timing. Indian women are never expected to be funny, but Juhi gets all the respect in my book for being the reigning comic beauty of India. (Note to filmmakers: make more comedies with Juhi Chawla! And not just the ones where she has to share the screen with Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan. Write her a great, classic comedy, a la Chaalbaaz!)
  • Total comedy movie, awesome stuff to watch back in the days
