Most of the Wonderland residents appear in the frame story as guests at a party. This double casting, as well as reinforcing Alice's dream-like perception, is an homage to author Lewis Carroll basing his characters upon acquaintances.
Alice:
How can you keep talking like that?
White Knight:
Like what?
Alice:
Head downwards, and body in the air!
White Knight:
What does it matter where my head and body are? My mind goes on working just the same...
When the Queen of Hearts decides to decapitate the cards who were painting the roses red, Alice hides them in her skirt to save them. However, they are never seen getting out, and no further reference is made to them in the film.
In subsequent reruns, this film has been trimmed to 100 minutes so that it can be shown in two hours instead of three.
