Well-directed vignettes by the great Mr. Leslie

The title refers to prostitution, a theme nicely explored by John Leslie in this compact feature made up of five vignettes. With vignette-for-streaming today's favored porn format, hack current directors should take a gander at this decades-old video to see how it's done.

Opening scene is a two-parter, with creepy Bobby Vitale humping the statuesque blonde Lexi Leigh, and then lending her out to two buddies for a threesome. His cajoling of her is in standard sleazy porn fashion, but with the twist that Leigh demands $1,200 for the deed, not the expected "do me a favor baby" freebie. This strong scene has a surprise ending that is most satisfying.

Even better is a pantomime segment in a hotel room where stoic Kyle Stone gets a blow-job in the bathroom from sensual Gina Everett (here belled alternately as Selena or Selene) and then has a threesome after a short stud arrives to hump her. Again, a trick ending reveals a different sort of prostitution.

Every segment is interesting, with Leslie mastering the art of creating a situation and characters with brief, bold strokes, never dawdling while the porn viewer sits there hankering for the XXX content to begin.

Jake Steed is shooting hoops when neighbor housewives Candy Apples and Ariel Daye wander over and proposition him, resulting in an all-anal outdoor threesome by his pool, not whoring but fun nonetheless.

Like his employer at Evil Angel (Buttman), Leslie gets involved in the action without showing his face (or taking billing) as we hear him interview Channone in the role of a student from France who earns her room & board by hooking at night. She has a threesome with Steven St. Croix and Blake Palmer, cross-cut with Leslie's hand in the frame fingering her.

For the older punters, Dave Cummings is cast as a Senator working on some notes (for a speech?) in a cafe at closing time, inveigled by the attractive waitress and barmaid to have a threesome for $1,200. Wathing the old duffer humping away explicitly may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a cute finish.

Scorching adult film noir

John Leslie is truly on the cutting edge of adult cinema. He has an unmistakable camera style, and his use of back-lighting make his films visually unique. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Leslie's films, though, is the women; they are all beautiful, and they perform with amazing sexual energy.

Witness, for instance, the hotel scene with the angelic Selena. She grinds out a captivatingly erotic performance, capped with an epic climax. And that's just the tip of the iceberg for this film.

This video is a treat for all fans of the cinema -- not just fans of "Adult film". Do yourself a favour and rent it.
