    Guilty Pleasures

OK, I know I'm 22 years old and supposed to be part of the counter-culture that ignores most fads targeted at 8-year olds. But this show rocks! I watched it because of the simple fact there was nothing else on that afternoon, and now I've been swept up in the continuing adventures of Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and token grown-up (that would be Brock or Tracey). And Team Rocket! You gotta love those guys. They try so hard to be evil, but it's not really in there hearts. This show is a lot better than people give it credit for. Check it out (if your over 8 and/or don't have kids).

****:perfect 4 stars, quite possibly one of the most entertaining anime's somewhat based on a terrific game around.

A truly, truly wonderful anime, mix in a good amount of heart & music, kick up a little pokemon battling mayhem,& 2 main story parts make it a crumb of a bit better than the game,(Misty & Brock following with ash,the team rocket group),true contrary to popular belief it's not 80-100% accurate to the show,it's more 60% accurate, but it has been said that the show is based on the upcoming Yellow version,& the story changes are usually for the better,& the humor on this show is well paced in such as the known comic anime "Samurai Pizza Cats" so in some ways you don't have to be a big video game fan to enjoy this one.

    THIS ROCKS!!!

This show is one of the best on the air! It is also the best Game Boy game ever made! It remains partially true to (the game.) It tells the adventures of Ash, Misty, and Brock as they search for all 150 Pokemon. There is only one word to describe this show: Great!

    • Trivia
Ash's starter Pokemon was going to be Clefairy but was swapped for Pikachu to make it appealing for boys and girls alike.
    • Goofs
In one episode Brock's Geodude participates in an all-Fighting Pokemon tournament. A Geodude, however, is NOT fighting, it's rock/ground. In the original card series there was no rock or ground type, only fighting type to represent all three types.

James of Team Rocket: To unite all people within our nation.

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James of Team Rocket: To extend our reach to the stars above.

      Jessie: Jessie.

      James of Team Rocket: James.

Jessie: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light.

James of Team Rocket: Surrender now or prepare to fight.

      Meowth: Meowth. That's right.

    • Crazy credits
The Pokemon logo makes one last appearance at the very end of the credits, after the Summit Media Group bumper.
    • Alternate versions
The 4Kids version included removing suggestive content and changing the fate of several characters, as well as editing the story to be much lighter and kid friendly in tone for the US release. The characters names were changed such as 'Satoshi' became 'Ash', 'Kasumi' became 'Misty' and 'Takeshi' was 'Brock', as well as changing almost all of the Pokémon's names to more 'American' names. Such edits as removal of written Japanese characters on various signs, billboards, etc. Cigar or anything that's a tobacco product, alcoholic like beverages, and any scenes that seem too violent. Ironically, however, the 4Kids version retained more of the Japanese original soundtrack than the TPCi version did overall. The TPCi version would also later in its run follow the same path as the 4Kids version, including censoring alcoholic beverages into orange juice cups by the Sun & Moon Series, removing glitter vomit, Meowth drowning, etc. And it would also censor Ash on a cross in the XYZ Series, as well as a mustache on a character appearing similar to Hitler in the Journeys Series, as well as souls into coffins.
