"Beyond the Pecos" was another in Rod Cameron's brief tenure as a "B" western cowboy.
There's an ongoing feud between the Remingtons and the Randalls. We are never, unless I missed it , told the underlying cause of the conflict. Anyway, Lew Remington (Cameron) returns home to help his father Ed (Robert Homans) deal with the feud. Bob Randall (Eddie Dew), Lew's rival for the affections of Ellen Turner (Jennifer Holt), opposes him.
On his way home Lew meets Barnacle Pete Finnegan (Fuzzy Knight) an ex seaman who is "sailing" his boat on wheels across the country selling magic potions to the townsfolk. Lawyer Ord Tanner (Frank Jaquet) is the uncle of Elaine who is working behind the scenes with unscrupulous land grabber John Hendrick (Gene Roth). It seems that there is oil on the Remington ranch . It is in Hendrick's interests to keep the feud going so that he can purchase the Remington ranch.
Lew tastes oil in one of Barnacle's potions and learns that the water taken from a pond by Barnacle, contained oil. Ord Tanner asks Hendricks to be released from the plot but is poisoned for his trouble. Henchman Keno (Jack Rockwell) is captured. As he is about to talk, he is shot down by Hendrick's other henchman Steve Grenfels (Jack Ingram).
Lew finally figures things out and he and Randall join forces to defeat Hendricks and..........................................................................
Cameron would soon leave the "B" ranks for more prestigious productions in Technicolor with Yvonne DeCarlo. Ray Whitley, who plays saloon owner Dan Muncie, provides the musical entertainment along with his Bar Six Cowboys.
