On the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all of the citizens of the town.
In the original adaptation of the Grinch, the Grinch's main dislike of Christmas is due to the loud noise and extreme gluttony. However, for the movie, an extensive backstory was created to explain why the Grinch dislikes Christmas.

When the Grinch finished loading his sled, he had turned all the Christmas lights off. As he was trying to take off, all the lights were on, but his sled stalled. His second attempt of taking off all the lights were off again.
Near the end of the Imagine Entertainment logo, snow begins to fall, the snow continues to fall even after the words "Imagine Entertainment" fade away.
The network TV version of the movie added scenes not shown on the DVD including an extended version of the "Present, pass-it-on" sequence.
