  • The movie is suspense thriller and it had a shock value at the time of its release. However, the culprit can be guessed easily if someone can read lip movements which is no that hard here. I wish the director had taken some other camera angle. But if someone can't read that then this movie is interesting. But then don't have too much expectations. The film belongs to 90s era and the suspense is also for that era audience.

One dragging point is that hero is sacred of dark so you can't expect him to investigate the mystery. He could have been shown as a complete actor but due to poor characterization, he looks only a chocolate boy. Songs are good.

It is a one time watch if you don't have anything else to do.
  • As is the norm with Bollywood, this remake is uncredited, but that's another story for another time. "Pehla Nasha" is the directorial debut of "Lagaan" director Ashutosh Gowariker, who is arguably one of the best and most honest directors in Bollywood right now. I don't normally follow Bollywood, but I've seen more Indian films than most middle class Canadians, and Gowariker never fails to astonish me with the sheer gulf in class between his directorial abilities and that of most of his peers.

Anyway, about the film, I haven't seen it in a long time and I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to find outside India. All I remember was quite liking it and thinking it was about as good as the original, which I never thought of as one of DePalma's better films.
  • Hi guys already watched this film as a kid when it released in 1993. But again watching it after so many years in 2024. Though it's a remake of a hollywood movie Body Double, that I didn't know as a kid, that's the reason I enjoyed it very much. In those days usually comedy or romantic movies were made but suspense thrillers were very rare. So it was something new or fresh for me. Though it was flopped upon its release but it was engaging. It might have worked if it was made in recent times. Only problem with this movie is it's main lead. Deepak Tijori was fine actor but was more suitable for supporting roles. It could have made wonders if it was made with a more popular actor of thta time like Aamir or Shah Rukh. I think Aamir could have done this role better. Music too was low for me. Must watch!!!!

This movie is from a simpler time, when black and white characters, hearts of gold or damsels in distress existed in cinemas. It is a typical early nineties movie, with its naive-ness and unsophisticated characters. Good luck if you can find a good print for the movie, but it will not disappoint. It can hold your attention for a single watch.
