  • It's a film hagiography of St. Francis of Assissi, from his days as a soldier through his death and subsequent canonization. Rina Calabria plays Clare, his ex-fiancee who became a nun and had visions of several of his miracles.

As a hagiography, it's neat, and many of the shots are recreations of paintings. That would, doubtless, explain the spotless condition of the sets -- I noticed how clean and unmarked the sets were, and how bare of furnishings, outside of the painting recreations. Many of the scenes were shot on actual locations, seven centuries worse for wear.
