  • Bad! It's like the whole show is made for young kids or older people(50 and up)who doesn't know what good acting, good directing and a good script are. The only reason that this show is still being aired is because half of Norways population is youngsters and oldies, who does not understand English or manage to read the subtitles fast enough, and there's no other shows to watch in Norwegian(Okey, you have the sucky sitcoms).

There are some good actors/actresses(not good, but they suck less) and they are the only reason why i gave this 2 out of 10!

    Definitely not worth checking out!

I am not one of the people who hates soaps, I love some American soaps like Sunset Beach and Days of our lives(the way it was in the 90s that is) But this one is terrible !! The story lines are boring and usually about something that has to do with money. The characters are so boring and unoriginal it isn't even funny. Its the same day in and day out at the stupid hotel.

The only good thing about this show is Svein, he is the only character that is fun to watch and the actor is brilliant !!(not to mention Hilarious !!) I also liked Ragnar played by Nicolay Lange Nielsen but thats about it. 2 characters aren't enough for me to watch a show.

True some of the actors are good but some of them need to show more emotion. For example in one eppies a girl just lost her father and she was talking about her fathers death as if she got a bad math test back !!! I just had to laugh...

If you want to see a OK soap from Norway the only one is Syv Søstre, although it had some really bad actors in it the story lines were far more exciting and actual had original characters. And the good actor in that show were far better than the good ones here.

Its a joke that this show have been on for over 10 years!

Norway don't fit to make soaps IMO, I prefer real life shows from Scandinavia(where as I prefer unrealistic American soaps). Like Vestavind and Sommer.
  • This series is a plague. I put in every effort to avoid it. Its about a family driven hotel in Oslo, and all the people are stupid, and the intrigues are ridiculous. This is as fun as getting an anvil on your toes.
  • This series is perhaps the most awful series I've ever seen in my entire life. With its endless, yet boring, intrigues, this series make up pretty much my #1 spot of horrible script and dialogue writing. Going on for almost 30 seasons, this is a series that has seriously degraded, episode for episode. Being known for a role in this heap load of crap, is perhaps the most disgraceful status you could possibly have.

As for the plot in itself, it never evolves beyond boring plot twists, that pretty much could be summed up as boring relationships and affairs, and the numerous times the Hotel has been on the verge of bankruptcy (oh thank God if that happens).

The acting is horrible, and is filled with over-acting actors and actresses, having the same, shocked tone all the time. The special effects (the Hotel in itself, and the filming) is also horrible. As for myself, I have only seen a few PARTS of a few episodes, and that was enough for me. The final warning sign is that the trailers themselves are also really horrible and unengaging.

My final warning; DO NOT WATCH!

Hotel Cæsar is the only Norwegian soap shown on a daily basis, and it's a great soap - I really, really love this show! It, of course, has all the traditional soap stories - love, betrayal, disputes over money and power, unknown children suddenly showing up, the more comical story lines and so on - and they're all done very good. But, of course, the show has had it's ups and downs, like all shows, but it's always worth watching. It might turn away from it's roots some times, but after some time, they return to them again. It's my number 1 favourite show, and I really hope it stays on for many more years - they've surely still got a lot of untold stories, and they're constantly renewing the show. That's what makes it so great!
  • This is a soap with all the usual plot lines. Affairs, conflicts, business run by bad guy challenges business run by good guy, kidnappings, silly romances, lost sons, and so on... Ideal for brainless bored housewives, garbage to anybody else. If you're into stuff like this, watch it, if you're not (like me) avoid it at all costs.

I don't usually watch this show, but I feel that the comment that has already been made is a bit too harsh and unfair... Some of the actors are not very good but most of them are actually, to a certain degree, talented and play their roles well. Some of the story lines have been boring and stupid but mostly exiting. So if you like soaps and intrigues you probably like this show... After all it has been a large part of Norwegian prime time television for over 7 years. And the story lines deal with everyday problems like being gay, economic problems, alcohol and drug problems, and people struggling to fit in, as well as some more "fantastic" issues like kidnapping and people disappearing and dying in all kinds of "accidents", but all in all it is worth giving this show a chance! It has a lot of viewers, and although one person hates it, that doesn't mean that it sucks, people have different opinions. Personally I think it is a pretty good show, and worth watching, at least occasionally!
  • Never have the world seen anything like this since Åvard Brå broke his...ski...something in 19......okay, I'm not good at this. Anyways! This is BAD! get away! Take cover! I rather watch Morgan Weisser kissing Barbra H...(Stay the Night) than watch this trash. In fact, that's what I'm gonna do! I'm gonna watch Morgan and Barbra! Hotel Cæsar shouldn't be watched by anyone.
  • Hotel Cæsar is a series which is REALLY POOR. It is about a hotel in Oslo called (who would have guessed) Hotel Cæsar. The intrigues are so stupid, it`s hard not to laugh at it. All the actors deliver poor performances, and the whole thing is just bad. This will become a cult-series in the future(it should be it now), where people watch some episodes just to laugh at the incredibly low quality of the series.

This SoapOpera is probably the best soap I have ever seen. The intrigues are exiting, bad acting, terrible actors, but you get this urge to watch the next episode. And all the small plots are exciting etc. Very good.

"Hotel Cæsar" is one of my all-time favourite soaps, along with "Passions" and "Days of our lives". It`s Norwegian, and has a lot of drama and passion. My favourite character is Julie Anker-Hansen. A role which Elin Sogn portrays in an excellent way! I hope you all will watch it. Last friday episode 700 was aired in Norway!! So stay tuned, Hotel Cæsar will return after christmas!! Lots of love, Kibby :)
  • hotel Caesar is about the family Anker Hansen, who runs this big hotel branch, but the show itself happens in the heart of this hotel branch itself, the one in Oslo. And the main characters are people working there and it also includes their families. You have the regular workers and the people in the management in the roles. And here you got fights, love, intrigues and much more. This is a traditional soap opera in the capitol of Norway, with some pretty cool stories, and it is also picking up some very typical Norwegian things, and also takes up the more universal things. This is a show you should see with open minded heart. I did not see it before and i just said nasty things about it, but one day i sat down bored i watched it, and found it rather nice.
  • A classic, but yet modern, and very well-made soap, made by good old Wikander and Falck. We follow the life of "Hotel Caesar" in Oslo, Norway, from the president on top, to the cleaning ladies down in the lobby. The series has a certain touch of "Dynasty" to it, and has good storylines (not too complicated, and not too boring).

I do not agree with the previous "red alert - avoid at all cost" review. for a soap, it's not bad at all.. i mean, there are scores of australian soaps and boring hi-school soaps out there.. but Hotel Cæsar has something special to it.. Murder, sex, intrigues (both sexually and economical), corruption, beautiful girls.. you name it. I didn't like it at first, but i started to watch it a little while i was eating dinner.. and now, i'm an addict! Mind you, i'm not the type of guy that watches soaps, but i really like this one. The actors ain't that bad either, with a couple of exceptions of course. My personal favorite is Arne - a nymphomaniac preacher with just as much love for God as for cash and women.

A very good soap, in my humble opinion.
