Snapshot: New-ish series premiere: Fox’s Last Man Standing (1.8 in 18-49 Live+Same Day rating, 8.0 million viewers), Fox’s Cool Kids
Between the two revivals this fall — of a comedy with a liberal central character and tone, the Trump-bashing Murphy Brown, and a conservative one, Last Man Standing, it’s the latter that netted strong ratings in its return.
The Season 7 premiere of Last Man Standing on a new network, Fox, drew a 1.8 in adults 18-49 Live+same day rating and 8.0 total viewers. That was well above the series’ most recent Season 6 premiere on ABC in fall 2016. In fact, this was Lms‘ best demo L+Sd delivery since the Season 2 debut in 2012 which marked the comedy’s first outing on Friday after an initial run on Tuesday.
Despite airing on the slower-trafficked Friday night, Lms topped the Thursday premiere of CBS’ Murphy Brown. Like with the huge...

“Last Man Standing” debuted its seventh season on Fox Friday night, with the Tim Allen-led sitcom rocketing past its previous season numbers on ABC.
“Last Man Standing” averaged a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 8 million viewers, airing at 8 p.m. By comparison, the Season 6 premiere on ABC drew a 1.1 rating and 6 million viewers, while that season as a whole averaged a 1.2 rating and 6.4 million viewers. In fact, the last time the series drew over 8 million viewers was back in its fourth season, and the last time it drew a 1.8 rating or better was in Season 2. It was also Fox’s most watched comedy on any night in nearly seven years, excluding NFL nights, and was by far the top-rated show of Friday night.
That made for an excellent lead-in for freshman series “The Cool Kids,” with the series premiere of that show drawing a 1.5 and 6.8 million viewers at 8:...

Laura, played very briefly by Ruth Ann Llorens (The Comeback Kid) is a talented high school track runner who meets her demise during a race, where she collapses and dies on the spot in front of her whole school (how embarrassing! Even more so due to the fact she won!) Fingers are immediately pointed towards Coach Michaels, played by the ever charming Christopher George (City of the Living Dead, The Exterminator) because he is a determined and often ruthless son of a gun! A couple of months pass and Laura’s sister Anne, played by Patch Mackenzie (Serial, It’s Alive 3) returns home from the Navy to honour her sister’s graduation.
