The first Japanese-produced Ultra Series in Japan's Heisei Era (1989-present).
This series, along with the earlier "Ultraman Wonderful World" movie anthology (which featured Urutoraman Zeasu (1996)), was produced as a commemoration project for the 30th Anniversary of the original Ultraman: A Special Effects Fantasy Series (1966) TV series.
Tiga is the first Ultraman with multiple forms. His three forms are Multi ("Omni" in the US), Power, and Sky ("Speed" in the US), with an ultimate fourth form, Glitter-Tiga, in the series' finale.
Saban and DiC (who also adapted another Tsuburaya production Denkô chôjin Guriddoman (1993) and retitled it Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad (1994)) were considered to adapt the show for the Western market, before 4KiDS Entertainment picked it up, who eventually produced an English dub of the show.
