Check out the new "Attack on Al" clip from the upcoming killer car creature feature Super Hybrid, which hits the streets on August 23rd on Blu-ray and DVD from Anchor Bay Entertainment.
In the clip, the killer car claims another unsuspecting victim and reveals it is not quite what it seems.
Synopsis:
Late one night, a mysterious car is brought into the Chicago police impound garage after a deadly traffic accident. The on-call mechanics soon discover the car has a mind of its own. With hundreds of horsepower and two tons of reinforced steel at its command, it's a seemingly unstoppable killing machine capable of outrunning -- and outwitting -- humans.
Directed by Eric Valette, the film stars Oded Fehr (The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, Resident Evil Franchise), Shannon Becker (You Are Here, American Pie Presents Beta House), and Ryan Kennedy (The Invisible, "Hellcats").

The Fantasia Film Festival is officially over and we here at Sound On Sight will always remember it as the year of brilliant first time features with the likes of Bellflower, Absentia, Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, You Are Here, Beyond The Black Rainbow, Attack The Block and Retreat, to name a few. The final audience numbers are yet to be confirmed, but Fantasia estimates it has welcomed more than 100,000 audience members in the past three and a half weeks. 150 international directors, actors and producers came to present their films and we had a great time meeting new faces and drinking the nights away with some of the filmmakers. I can’t stress how fun the festival is and highly I recommend our international readers who love genre cinema to one day travel here to Montreal, and check it out.

People keeping asking me for recommendations for movies screening at the Fantasia film festival. Simon already posted a list of ten safe bets. Kyle posted a list of four wild cards, four must see films that could be disappointing but still worth watching for various reasons. Here is a list of screenings that I highly recommend. Also a personal note for any of my friends checking out this list: I should be at most of these screenings depending on what I see beforehand via press screenings. Also many films screen at the same time, so I posted alternate times for each pick. Oh and in case you care, my most anticipated films are Bellflower, Kidnappe, To Die In A Lonely Place, Saint, Cold Fish and Attack The block

"Parks and Recreation" funny lady Amy Poehler shared some of her greatest life advice with Harvard University's Class of 2011 on Wednesday (May 25) at the annual Class Day for graduating seniors.
Even before taking the podium, Poehler earned laughs (with help from a quick witted student, Scott Levin-Gesundheit) by flipping the middle finger. According to on hand sources, the student introduced Poehler as the "blonde Tina Fey."
Below, find some of the funniest moments from Poehler's speech:
- "You're here because you someone gave you strength: God, Allah, Buddha, Gaga. Whoever you pray to."
-"If I wanted to give advice as an actor: Don't do it. Don't be one. There are too many. Sorry no more room at the inn. I bet you're great, just work with the human genome."
-"I cannot stress enough that the answer to a lot of your life's questions is often in someone else's face.

9:43 Original Score = The Social Network. Ohmygod. What a nice surprise. Though this means that Alexander Desplat joins Roger Deakins in the Great Hall of Giants Without An Oscar. The company is excellent in the room so I'm sure it's all good.
9:47 Sound Mixing = Inception.

So what do we have now? Inception: 3, Social Network & Fighter: 2, Toy Story 3, Alice, & The King's Speech: 1?
9:57 Cate Blanchett presents Makeup to The Wolfman. Says "that's gross" about the clip. Ha! This is silly though. Rick Baker already won for one werewolf movie. Did he need two for those effects? Also London features naked David Naughton and The Wolfman features clothed Benicio so. it's simple math: American Werewolf > Wolfman.

8:41 Gone With The Wind shout out. Classy. Although very Wtf random. I'm not liking where this is going with the Cinematography + Art Direction = Best Picture. Eyesore in Wonderland wins. It's all uphill from here. Cinematography = Inception. Sorry Roger Deakins. You'll have to wait for #10.
8:51 Kirk Douglas. Wow Old Hollywood shout out. Take that 2009 Oscars!

Collecting my favorite posters from this year’s International Film Festival Rotterdam, one thing struck me: that I hadn’t actually managed to see any of the films these posters were advertising. With almost 250 features and over 350 shorts on offer, that wasn’t that surprising, but for that reason I can’t really tell you how well any of them encapsulated their subject. (One exception was the poster for Paddy Considine’s Tyrannosaur, a film I did see and liked a lot, which had a dark, brooding image of Peter Mullan that reminded me of a Pedro Costa film, but I haven't been able to find a copy of it anywhere). Poster-wise, pickings were slimmer than last year (the same could be said of the films) but there were some standouts. My favorite was this gorgeous piece of flowery minimalism, above, for the documentary Pyuupiru 2001-2008, a portrait of the Japanese transexual artist.

A leader plays many roles--visionary, steward, cheerleader, irritant ... Irritant? Yup. For more on that, we turn to Cindi Bigelow, president of Bigelow Tea. Bigelow is the third generation leader of the family business based in Fairfield, Connecticut. The 330-person company did about $135 million in sales last year and makes 1.6 billion tea bags annually. In this Q&A, Bigelow talks about why her company is the exception to the dismal survival rates for family businesses, how to push people to exceed their own expectations, and why one key management tactic is just getting the right people in the room.
Kermit Pattison: Most family businesses don't make it to the second generation and only a very small percentage make it to the third. Why has yours survived?
Cindi Bigelow: Our business made to third generation for a combination of mutual respect and love being the foundation to get through difficult times. As...

“Wait, I had a point!” exclaimed director Mike Nichols, while taking part in the “Talk About Nothing” conversations series at the Rubin Museum of Art, in New York, last month. Nichols, who earned notoriety from films such as The Graduate, The Birdcage, and Angels in America, had forgotten his reason for delving into a story about working with friend Liz Taylor on the set of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Christopher Potter, the moderator of the discussion and author of You Are Here: A Portable History of the Universe, smiled with amusement. After a minute, Nichols finally gave in, abandoning his point completely. “Oh, it’s O.K. We’re talking about nothing, anyway!”...

Paije Richardson took a very different direction on tonight’s X Factor show.
Instead of his normal soul classics, for this evening’s American Anthem themed extravaganza, Paije fused The Monkees I’m A Believer and Hey Ya! by Outkast.
Good Points:
His funky yellow sweater!
The dancers and Paije’s interaction with them. We loved his energy tonight. He looked like he was having so much fun.
His smooth vocals…Paije has the most amazing tone and this tune displayed them well.
The transition between the old classic and modern hit. Genius move!
Bad Points
None! This is our favourite Paije performance to date!
Judges Comments:
Louis Walsh: Week five and you’re getting better. You seem to be having more fun I like that we’re starting to see your personality. You’re like a little Lenny henry.

Taking place in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, the Whistler Film Festival, only in its tenth year, has been building a reputation as the Sundance of Canadian film and for good reason. Programmers at Whistler have always displayed great taste but they’ve now entered into the stratosphere of impeccable and at this rate, Whistler is turning into the festival I look forward to the most.
In addition to the previously announced opening gala presentation of Daydream Nation (trailer), the rest of the festival has been announced and it’s like a girl’s dream. You Are Here (trailer, review), Jacob Tierney’s Good Neighbours, Blue Valentine, Bruce McDonald’s Trigger (trailer), Attenberg (trailer), Wrecked (trailer), Meek’s Cutoff, Brad Anderson’s Vanishing on 7th Street (trailer, review) and the world premiere of Hard Core Logo 2.
Phew, I lost my breath just oogling at the goodness.

Matt Cardle was second on the stage on tonight’s X Factor show and Cheryl Cole admitted that she’d like him to open his eyes, and ‘bring us in’ this evening.
The former painter and decorator sang David Guetta’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ which showed off the falsetto in his voice amazingly well. The start was a bit shaky and we could hear Matt’s nerves very clearly. However, he brought it back and the vocal improved as he went on. We love Matt and have from his first audition, however he should have left the old green cap behind and he needs to stand up a bit straighter and gain a little bit of confidence and stage presence in future weeks.
Judges Comments:
Dannii Minogue: That was so exciting, you’re really versatile, you really delivered. I can’t wait to hear the next performance.

For all of you who were brainwashed that after the age 55 it’s time to start packing for that retirement cruise and designing that garden shrubbery, Sly Stallone, directing himself and a fistful of action stars from the 80s, including Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li, is back to prove that some of your most bone crushing, bruising days may still lie ahead—especially if you belong to a rogue pack of soldiers of fortune who still have a taste for danger and adventure in exotic far-flung locations.
The action begins under the cover of darkness. (Much of The Expendables, in fact, takes place after nightfall, the shadows serving to blur the lined faces, sagging muscles and other telltale signs of wear-and-tear of the film’s mature cast.) Under a picture perfect moon, a dinghy pulls up alongside a freighter somewhere near the East African coast. A band of heavily armed men stealthily climb aboard.

After hearing that this week's episode of Sgu was going to feature a backstory for Greer, one of my favorite characters on the show, I felt that it was going to be a great hour of Sgu on the scale of last week's "Human". Now after watching it, I should smack myself for not following my own rules on the Hype Machine. Was the episode terrible? Hell no. Was it as good as "Human"? Not quite. Was I satisfied with what I learned about Greer? Yep, just wanted more of it. Instead, what started out as two story lines (the Destiny looking for the offworld team and the offworld team themselves) turned into four, maybe five. In short, there was a lot going on, but not enough on Greer, who got the 'spotlight' treatment this week. In the end, it was damn good episode. I'm through yakking for now. Time for the recap!

Robert Olen Butler's Hell is well written and quite funny. Hell, in his imagination, is a thoroughly modern place with all the amenities of today's society. It seems everyone is there from the obvious -- Stalin, Hitler, Henry the VIII -- to the less obvious: Bill Clinton (who is compelled to pull down his pants every time a woman enters his hotel room), Shakespeare (his writing is doomed by the Blue Screen of Death), and a maniacal Nixon as a chauffeur. I seem to remember the Bee Gees being there. Huh.
So the premise is this: Hatcher was a newscaster in life and is now one in hell. He lands the interview of the his afterlife with Satan for his ongoing series "Why Do You Think You Are Here?" Though this interview is just a small portion of the book, I found it to be the absolute funniest part.

This big-screen version of a small-screen children's series called Avatar lost out in the film title stakes to a certain blue behemoth. That's not all that's wrong with it, says Anna Pickard
Let it not be said that M Night Shyamalan can't spot a winning concept when he sees one. What he produces from said concept is traditionally more patchy, quality-wise, but let's not get held up here.
Anyway, as seems to have been the case here, when M Night sees something he wants, he damn well goes after it. In this instance, that thing was called Avatar.
It's not called that anymore, because some other film happened to lay claim to the same name and, after a little tussle with the more lowly producers of that other Avatar, M Night graciously conceded and went with the other bit of the TV series title on which this film was based: The Last Airbender.

“2012” delivers everything you could possibly want from a blockbuster disaster movie, though you have to wonder how Roland Emmerich is going to top the end of the world.
It’s not so much that the Earth is destroyed, but that it’s done so thoroughly. “2012,” the mother of all disaster movies (and the father, and the extended family) spends half an hour on ominous set-up scenes (scientists warn, strange events occur, prophets rant and of course a family is introduced) and then unleashes two hours of cataclysmic special events hammering the Earth relentlessly.
This is fun. “2012″ delivers what it promises, and since no sentient being will buy a ticket expecting anything else, it will be, for its audiences, one of the most satisfactory films of the year. It even has real actors in it. Like all the best disaster movies, it’s funniest at its most hysterical. You think you’ve seen end-of-the-world movies?...

After they're reunited in the The Hangover sequel (May 2011), Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper will star in You Are Here, the first film from Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner. Variety says we'll have to wait a while before this one goes anywhere, though, thanks to scheduling issues with Weiner's hit AMC show, the recipient of a quadzillion Emmy awards.
The film's other star was, I believe, romantically linked to Cooper by the tabloids a few months ago: Jennifer Aniston. One thing's for sure, if they weren't tabloid fodder before, they will be now.
There's not much to know about the project at this point. It's a romantic comedy (as if you misunderstood the news that Jennifer Aniston had been cast in something) and Weiner wrote it a few years ago.

The story of Matthew Weiner is an interesting one. While working as a staff writer for Ted Danson’s sitcom, “Becker,” he created his first spec script for what would become “Mad Men.” The impressive nature of the script ultimately led to Weiner getting a gig writing, and later producing, on “The Sopranos.” But he didn’t let “Mad Men” go by the wayside, and shopped it around to various networks. HBO and Showtime notoriously passed on it, until AMC (which had never produced its own dramatic series) picked the show up. In just three seasons, “Mad Men” has become a cultural juggernaut, and the notorious attention to detail and involvement exhibited by Weiner is often credited as playing a huge part in its success.

Since no one on the Internet is discoursing on the season three finale of Mad Men, the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, has decided to do just that in a new interview. After the jump, we'll dive into Weiner's candid explanations for the massive changes that went down last Sunday and how they may or may not bleed into season four.
