Actually a lot of fun for how basic it is
There's no way of avoiding the obvious. Not a lot of people really cared about this game when bundled with the amazing Super Mario Bros on the same cartridge. But, to my surprise after finally checking this out, this game is surprisingly really good. Of course, nothing groundbreaking by any means, but it is one of the more addictive games you can get on an NES. The premise is simple. You just shoot ducks (or plates) with your zapper, and the more you shoot, the more you progress. The less, the more likely you'll get a game over. All with a dog laughing at you for missing a duck or 2. This game actually used the NES Zapper very well, and is one of the best games to use the peripheral on. The visuals in this game are cute and charming as well, which is definitely a plus. But, recommending this as a whole is a bit tough, because for as fun as it is, there's not much to this game other than you seeing if you can shoot more ducks than last time. To this games credit, it does get harder, offering a fun challenge. But, I can't imagine everyone flocking to their NES or NES emulator just to play this all the time, as it is lacking a bit when it comes to depth. But, that doesn't stop this from still being a great pack in game, which is what it was alongside SMB, because even for how basic this game really is, it's actually a lot of fun, so I do recommend everyone give this a shot at least once, even if it's not quite SMB3 or Metroid levels of quality.
