Hardcore version is the better choice for mixed-combo action
Something Weird has issued this interracial sex film in both hardcore and softcore (latter arbitrarily retitled GOLDEN GATE PAY-OFF) versions on DVD-R. The XXX edition is 10 minutes longer (clocking in at 62 minutes) and plays much better.

Sandra Stevens stars as Gina, a good-looking blonde with the misfortune of being loyal to ne'er-do-well boyfriend Buck. This clown has a gambling addiction, first losing a bundle playing 5-card draw (no Texas hold-'em in this vintage San Francisco porn opus) and later going into debt at the pool table.

Each time, it is hapless Gina who has to cover for him, traded into sexual servitude by Buck to his creditor Prez (must have been a Lester Young fan), a well-hung black dude who becomes quite fond of Gina. Later on it's the Dutchman who holds Buck's markers, and whose henchmen grab Gina of the street for forced orgiastic sex back at his lair.

Mixed combo sex is the name of the game here, as this poorly scripted and even more poorly acted film falls within the general genre of the early '70s Blaxploitation film craze. An Asian girl is thrown into the mix at the Dutchman's pad, and she speaks in the pidgin English mode of latterday porn icon Minka, but alas, lacks the latter's monster size breasts.

En route to an amateurish action staging for Buck and a tacked-on "happy" ending, film does have a few bright points. The opening credits sequence, scored to the theme from TV's "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." is imaginative with excellent artwork displayed, not unlike the credits for "Last Tango in Paris". Several tracks from Miles Davis's LP treasury are stolen, notably from his classic "Sketches of Spain" as well as the inevitable "Bitches Brew" vamping.

Stevens is sexy and sympathetic, though hardly an actress. There is also a memorably photogenic and silly extraneous sex scene involving Buck and a girl named Nancy, assuming odd sexual positions outdoors flanked by the Golden Gate Bridge. All of this needs the hardcore footage including money shots, expurgated from the softcore edition.
