  • Waterworld was great! I've seen it ?!?! times. The 'long' (American) version was an edited-for-TV version, with MUCH additional footage - it was NOT labeled a "Director's Cut" ever, to my knowledge. It ran for 2 or 3 nights, like a mini-series. I recorded it from television originally. However, the TV version cut out all nudity and profanity. The ultimate version, a true 'Director's Cut' would need to include the profanity and nudity AND the extended on-TV-only footage. When I still had the TV version I'd hoped to edit it together with the original including the deleted profanity and nudity. This would have been an ultimate (non-existent) version. Unfortunately, such a Director's Cut has never been in the offing or making.

I've often thought of writing Kevin Costner to request such a version, but ... well, I'm a nobody (not really, not to me), I don't KNOW Mr. Costner to write him, and I can't imagine him wanting to waste time and effort on a movie that too many people consider KevinGate Fishrot. Nonetheless, an ultimate version would have to include the edited-out material (for TV) AND the additional footage ONLY released on TV.
