DANGER HAS TWO FACES is an interesting late-stage addition to the Shaw Brothers catalogue, a contemporary thriller that's not quite up there with the madness of the same year's HONG KONG GODFATHER but one which still packs a violent punch. The excellent and underrated Beardy plays a pet shop owner by day and hitman by night, working his way through a long list of bad guys. Meanwhile a team of cops attempt to solve a gun smuggling case.

It takes a while for the two plotlines to converge, and there's a lot of socialising and character building along the way, but it does keep you interested throughout as it always keeps moving. The violence is harsh and most of the action is saved for an extended climax that doesn't disappoint, featuring as it does explosions, vehicular mayhem, martial arts combat and big shoot-outs. It's also one of those films that came out in the wake of THE TERMINATOR and copies the style of that movie quite extensively in terms of locations, motorbike chases and tracking shots; there's even a bit of arm surgery thrown in for good measure.
