| While it lacks realism, it is a nice little film.
This film is important because it stars, among other folks, Lee Jun Fan. Who is Lee? He later became known as Bruce Lee--yes, THAT Bruce Lee! Apart from that, it's a rather unremarkable morality tale--with a strong emphasis on teaching a moral lesson to the viewer. In many ways, it's like an old fashioned Horatio Alger tales.

The story begins with a lady coming to the hospital to give birth. However, she's unmarried and was impregnated by her sleazy boss--a man who then dumped her. She cannot take care of the child and leaves it with the doctor. He agrees to raise the boy and keeps him. However, when he marries a dreadful woman, he dumps the boy on his maid and he's raised by her. When she is murdered by her husband, he sells the kid--and so it goes for much of the film until eventually the boy is taken in by a very decent man and his nice wife. What's next, you'll just have to see for yourself.

The film is a chance to see a young Bruce Lee playing the boy, though several actors end up playing the same part. Overall, it's decent but a bit obvious and preachy--as if it's meant as a stern object lesson to the viewers. Mildly interesting.
