  • If you love horses, and have a dream to one day win that big competition then this is the movie for you. The pessimist who left us with a notion that this movie was "boring" and "pointless" obviously has no idea what it is like to finally be able to own a horse, compete against people who care of nothing BUT competing (ie: NOT the welfare of their horse), and be able to outdo them and put them in their place. Yes the fences are only 2' high, but the basic concept is the same whether you are soaring over 5' fences in the Olympics or competing at one of your first shows. I absolutely adored this movie and I'm pretty sure than any true horse loving person would.
  • I'm very disappointed in some of the comments on this movie. Although I will admit it's not the ideal movie for adults, it is an inspiring and lovely story for any young child, whether they be horse lovers like i was, or not. I was at my cousins house bored out of my mind when i first saw this film. Being the horse crazy girl i was, I saw the horse on the cover and flipped out! It has the basic story line of a Saddle Club book; A regular girl on a second rate horse competing against a rich, snobby, pretty girl that is an excellent rider on an excellent horse. It's the kind of movie you should watch on a rainy days with the kids.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I haven't seen the movie in a few years but I still remember the first time I saw it - and fell in love with it! Kids today are so used to the high dollar productions that they may not find it as interesting but you put it on for a horse crazy little girl and she will be transfixed! Girls dream of getting a horse against the odds and that is just what Jamie does! It is so enduring! And don't let people tell you it can't happen in real life! I begged for a pony for years, had to pay my own way, and then begged to be able to show(once again finding my own way). That movie is the reason I ride English today! I even taught my Shetland to jump at the age of 23 so that I could imagine myself in some big jumping competition! This is what little girls dreams are made of! And we all like to see brats put in their place so there's some fun for the older people too! The effort Jamie's mother's boyfriend makes to gain her friendship is also touching, he's so sweet trying to be there but not take her dad's place. I think as long as you're not expecting more than a 70's movie the parents can really enjoy it too. The story is all about defying the odds and proving yourself. It demonstrates clearly what happens when you really treat an animal with love - they return it. What happens when you work hard and stick to it – responsibly has it's rewards! I will defiantly have my girls watch it someday, and I'll be right there beside them.

  • I love this movie, and i have loved ever since i first saw. I was a horse crazy little girl and watching it help me to realize my dream of owning and showing horses. I admit that this film is not for everyone and being that it was made in the 70's its a bit out dated but i think anyone that loves showing horses would love this film. I also think if its not a movie about something you like you should keep your opinions to yourself, if you don't like horse and horse showing don't watch it. I wish someone would make and newer more up to date version of this movie but i think it would end up being a lousy Disney kid remake with bad acting and would fall short of the original story. but if it is remade i'll watch it.

I know that the movie is not a favorite today among people. Yet it will always remain on my list of favorite movies, with all the other horse movies I remember watching constantly as a young child.

Danny is a great family movie for the younger children and those young at heart. My daughter watches this movie with me and I only hope that it gives her the same feeling of happiness that it gave me. When I watch these movies with her I am able to grasp, if only for a moment, the feeling of innocence and wide eyed wonder I possessed as a child myself, sitting in my parents basement watching the movie.

I rate Danny a 10, it made me happy to watch it as a child and it brings me so much more joy being able to watch it with my daughter curled up on the couch together.

I hope she'll be able to fondly remember her favorite movies and experience what I do now, with her own children some day.

To the person who said that the people who gave this high ratings must have been 3-year old, I am 26 and everyone is entitled to their opinions. I love this movie for nostalgic reasons. It is sad when you are forced to watch movies that are to young for you or you have no interest in. I wish that you had seen this when you were younger and could have enjoyed it as opposed to looking back on it as garbage.

But I hope that you have movies that you can look back on with fondness. Even if they are no longer age appropriate and even if your their movies that friends would tease you about if they knew.

It is a sad thing to forget the things that brought us so much joy as children and discard those memories like yesterdays trash.

    Ciao for now.

  • This is one of the greatest films I have ever seen! It is perfect for any horse lover. Young or old! It has a great plot and is a wonderful story with lots of action pact into it. If you love jumping than this is even more for you! I loved this movie so much that I bought it off of e-bay!
