As someone who is obsessed with Ufos (or more recently known as UAPs) and the concept of extraterrestrials, I love a good documentary. Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.

After Danny Cron graduated from the California Institute of Arts in 2018, he did exactly what his instructors at the Valencia school recommended: he booked showcases in hopes of finding his first big acting gig.
But when the representation didn’t materialize and the roles remained unattainable, he was at a loss over what to do next. “I’m from Santa Fe, New Mexico. My mom was a teacher, my dad was a lawyer. I could not be further removed from this industry,” said the 29-year-old Cron. “You think, why am I not there yet? What’s going on? It’s almost like a scarcity mindset, or at least for me, a sense of panic. Because it’s really scary and intimidating to be out here. It can be very alluring when you find programs that claim they’re going to take care of all of it for you.”

Francis Ford Coppola's bleak Vietnam War picture "Apocalypse Now" is not only one of the best films of 1979, but is handily one of the finest, most important films of its decade. Using Joseph Conrad's 1899 novella "Heart of Darkness" as a template, Copolla transposed the book's action from the late 1800s Congo to the jungles of Cambodia, and, in so doing, exposed the madness and horror of the Vietnam War in harrowing, soul-hollowing terms. As Captain Willars (Martin Sheen) treks deeper and deeper into the chaos of the natural world -- drifting ever closer to the insane, cult-founding rogue Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando) -- reality begins to dissipate. Eventually, madness and violence are all that remain, and war is reduced to its base function: brazen, meaningless destruction and cruelty. "Apocalypse Now" is a great, great film.
Curiously, a lot of war enthusiasts love "Apocalypse Now," seemingly ignoring the film's...

"The Twilight Zone" isn't any old kind of zone. It's a bizarre place where anything can happen. Aliens can invade at any moment, William Shakespeare can get a job as a Hollywood ghostwriter. Heck, the creator of the series, Rod Serling, even got killed by his own creations once. The limits are only those of the human imagination, which are damn near infinite, except maybe without the words "damn near."
Yes, sometimes "The Twilight Zone" shows us things we never expected to see, which are hard to describe without making it seem like you're the one making it up. This is especially true for the less-popular, but still sometimes great reboots, which in the 1980s, early 2000s, and late 2010s allowed a whole new generation of actors, writers, and filmmakers to play in Rod Serling's unusual sandbox. Unlike the 1960s series, which was a cultural phenomenon in the 1960s and...

When Paramount launched CBS All Access in 2017, the service's flagship show was "Star Trek: Discovery," the first new Trek series to air since the cancellation of "Star Trek: Enterprise" in 2005. It was a reason to celebrate, but also a source of skepticism. Some were happy to see "Star Trek" updated for the streaming age and appreciated the franchise's shift to something more violent and incidental. Others bristled at the sloppy writing, the poor characterization, and the showrunner's bend away from the stodgy intellectualism that is Trekkies' bread and butter. "Discovery" has been a sticking point among Trekkies ever since its debut; one needn't look too far to find arguments online over its quality.
In 2020, CBS All Access debuted "Star Trek: Picard," a series that followed up on one of the main characters from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" several decades later. It, too, was a source of fan controversy, likewise...

“No One Will Save You” is here. And you probably have some questions.
The sci-fi thriller, now streaming on Hulu, stars Kaitlyn Dever as a young woman who lives apart from society and is forced to defend herself against an otherworldly presence. If you’ve ever been spooked by alien abduction documentaries or UFO sightings, then this movie, written and directed by Brian Duffield, will keep you up for days. It mixes extraterrestrial mythology with home invasion terror and is both emotionally and viscerally satisfying.
TheWrap recently probed Duffield’s thoughts on a few key points about the film’s antagonists and ending.

If A Quiet Place had an on-screen cousin, it would be No One Will Save You. Hulu’s riveting new alien invasion drama contains hardly any dialogue, which amps up the chilling suspense and allows the film to rest on the shoulders of Kaitlyn Dever. The Booksmart and Ticket to Paradise star turns in a powerful performance here as Brynn Adams, a young woman whose tortuous past comes back to haunt her when a mysterious alien invades her home.
Written and directed by Brian Duffield (writer of Cocaine Bear and much more), this film has the makings of a cult following. An extraterrestrial invasion, aliens light-beaming up humans to a spaceship, feverish run-for-your-life sequences, and the creepiest kind of aliens you’ll come across on screen and want to keep watching. The film also stars Dane Rhodes, Lauren L. Murray, Geraldine Singer, and Elizabeth Kaluev, but this is Dever’s baby from beginning to end.

You just never know who's going to show up in a galaxy far, far away these days. Whether it's "Cousin" Richie from "The Bear" (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) popping in to assist Cassian Andor on the Aldhani heist on "Andor" or Dr. John "J.D." Dorian from "Scrubs" (Zach Braff) playing the "Star Wars" equivalent of a Maga supporter on "Obi-Wan Kenobi," the supporting cast of the "Star Wars" franchise is an eclectic collection of top-of-the-line character actors and fan-favorites. Sometimes, however, you might not even recognize them, as they're buried under layers of makeup or wearing a helmet the entire time. That was exactly the case on the latest episode of "Ahsoka."
Titled "Far, Far Away," the episode follows those aboard the Eye of Scion to Peridea, the extra-galactic homeworld of the Dathomiri and a planet so ancient it had fallen into myth.

One of the issues at the heart of the WGA strike continues to be mini-rooms and the impact they’ve had — and could continue to have — on television shows. But, as WGA members who spoke with TheWrap note, the rooms have an emotional impact on writers, too.
A mini-room is a practice in which a television creator assembles a writers’ room to create multiple scripts — sometimes even an entire season’s worth — for a show, often before the title has even been greenlit. With these scripts in hand, a network or streamer will make a decision as to whether or not the show is good enough to go on.

It was announced back in March of 2023 that the upcoming fifth season of "Star Trek: Discovery" would be its last. This marks the end of an era, as Paramout+ -- back when it was called CBS All Access -- launched with the premiere of "Discovery" in 2017. Meanwhile, the third and final season of "Star Trek: Picard" wrapped earlier this year, "Star Trek: Prodigy" will end after its upcoming second season, and the extant episodes have been pulled from the service entirely. The glut of new "Star Trek" is now seemingly at an end.
"Discovery" has struggled its whole life. It infamously abandoned the traditional episodic structure of "Star Trek," skewing toward the more popular, modern full-season story arcs. It also drastically redesigned the franchise, including new technologies and reworked aliens that looked nothing like what came before. Sci-fi TV shows like The X-Files and Roswell offer a unique and creative exploration of UFO sightings, focusing on the human emotions behind these phenomena. Shows like 3rd Rock From The Sun and Mork & Mindy provide comedic and thoughtful perspectives on extraterrestrial life, examining human behavior through the eyes of aliens. Fargo Season 2 and Project Blue Book offer intriguing UFO-centric narratives that blend history and fiction, making them must-watches for UFO enthusiasts.
The search for UFOs has been at the center of many iconic sci-fi TV shows, perhaps due to the endless fascination with these otherworldly phenomena. While documentaries about aliens and UFO sightings are heavily abundant, sci-fi shows on such subjects are relatively more niche. Interest in such shows is bound to resurface with new revelations, like a former Air Force intelligence officer accusing the U.S. of concealing a multi-decade program on UFOs. The teen drama isn’t a new genre — it’s been around for decades. The live-action Archie adaptation has seen seven seasons, multiple spin-offs, and more adventures than its cast ever could have expected. As the show continues to race toward its season finale, yet another member of the cast is set to make her return before it's all over.
Ashleigh Murray, who plays Josie McCoy, is an original cast member of Riverdale but left the series after season 3. She went on to star in the now-canceled spin-off Katy Keene, and she has only occasionally returned to the world of Riverdale since. A new press release by The CW, however, indicates that Murray will be making another appearance in season 7, episode 17. The episode — titled "Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Four: A Different Kind of Cat" and airing on August 2 — will see Josie showing off her new film, alongside Veronica (Camila Mendes...

The CW is bringing even more live sports onto the network. The network was put on the market in early 2022 after its parent company alleged that it had never made a profit since its creation. It was eventually bought by the Texas-based company Nexstar, who announced their intention to only retain very few existing scripted shows after the 2022-2023 season, spending the next few months canceling a raft of series that included Legacies, The Winchesters, Gotham Knights, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, among many others.

The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley has shared his candid thoughts about appearing on the long-running series. He starred in all 171 episodes of the CW series, which ran for eight seasons between 2009 and 2017. He played Stefan Salvatore, the younger brother of Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore who falls in love with human girl Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and eventually enters a vicious love triangle between her and Damon.
In a recent interview with InStyle, Wesley reflected on his time as a member of the Vampire Diaries cast. He revealed that not only would he never want to return to the role of Stefan, he "would never do another vampire anything, period." While he expresses his appreciation for the role, which is still his most popular, "eight years is a long time" and he hopes future roles will help separate him from the iconic character. Since her popular part as the surgical oncologist Izzy in Grey's Anatomy, Katherine Heigl emerged in several roles in television series and movies. Her Grey's Anatomy era is considered the height of her career, although her professional history is filled with notable acting roles and other worthy entertainment features. Heigl began in entertainment fairly early, starting out as a child model in advertisements from Lord & Taylor to Cheerios and venturing into the acting vocation she has become known for today.
Heigl's first big roles before Grey's Anatomy's 2005 debut included parts in the rom-com My Father The Hero and the 1995 film Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. Alongside her early movie stints, Heigl secured television roles and maintained a successful modeling career, until finally joining the original cast of Grey's Anatomy. Tom Hanks plays against type in A Man Called Otto, and as the movie delves into the grumpy character's backstory, audiences encounter a younger version of Otto. Casting a convincing younger version of a face as recognizable as Hanks' is no easy feat, but director Marc Forster made the ideal choice to effectively pull it off.
The movie relies on multiple flashbacks to explain the tragedy that has made Hanks' Otto Anderson such a cynical grouch to the new family that moves in next door to him. In order to ensure that the flashbacks in A Man Called Otto maintain the proper gravitas needed to effectively tell the story, it was important that the younger version of Hanks not be distracting. Forster came up with a unique idea to make it work, which was fully embraced by the prolific cinematic legend.

The '90s and early on into the next decade saw a true heyday for the sci-fi genre on television. Thanks to TV networks like The Sci-Fi Channel (now Syfy) and premium cable networks, along with cheaper CGI and VFX technology, science-fiction saw a big boom. From Babylon 5 and the lurid Lexx to Stargate: Sg-1, The X-Files, Roswell, and Star Trek series, sci-fi was arguably more popular than ever.
Perhaps the most underrated and arguably the most purely entertaining and fun series of all these, though, was Farscape. The Australian-American show premiered on The Sci-Fi Channel and was co-produced by The Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment, of all places. The series was one of the best 'spaceship' shows, in which the majority of the program was set on board a ship where the cast could interact. Exclusive: 20th Century Studios has acquired Naughty, an original feature pitch from Siena East (Clone High) conceived as a starring vehicle for Amber Midthunder (Prey), multiple sources tell Deadline.
Pic’s storyline is under wraps, though the project is described as a holiday action rom-com. East will pen the script, with Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson to produce through their Hutch Parker Entertainment banner, which has a first-look deal with 20th. Hutch Parker Entertainment’s John Scott Gibney will co-produce after bringing the material in, with Midthunder to serve as exec producer. A director has not yet been attached.

Warning: Spoilers for The Best ManThe Best Man is a tight action-thriller that takes the single-location structure made iconic by the incredibly quotable Die Hard and brings it to a sunny resort. The film is Shane Dax Taylor’s first foray into action filmmaking and is in part a love letter to the iconic action films of the 1980s.

Matt Reeves' 2022 film "The Batman" featured the title character in yet another rebooted continuity, this time even darker and grittier than ever before. Batman (Robert Pattinson) was seen as a pale-skinned, stoic outsider, rarely making public appearances as Bruce Wayne, preferring to use his fists to ignite fear in the hearts of the criminal underground. He didn't smile and seemed incapable of experiencing happiness. The Riddler (Paul Dano) was reimagined to resemble the real-life Zodiac Killer, and murdered people on the regular. Gotham City was more corrupt than ever, and it is tantalizingly suggested at one point that Bruce Wayne's late father might have opened the door for massive corruption to leak into the city's legislature. Sadly, that moment is walked back.

Jonathan Frakes has always seen "Star Trek" as an action/adventure franchise, as he once admitted during a behind-the-scenes interview for "Star Trek: First Contact," which he directed. As the man who played Cmdr. William Riker on seven seasons of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," it makes logical sense that he would see things that way. Riker was a man of action, always in charge of away missions, and a jocular cowboy when in command. This persona would be played with to great effect decades later on "Star Trek: Lower Decks," wherein Riker was finally depicted working as a starship captain — a long-sought position — and laughing heartily as he plunged his crew into danger.
As an actor, Frakes began his career in the late 1970s, appearing on the soap opera "The Doctors." As a director, Frakes started working on episodes of NextGen during its third season, helming the episode "The Offspring.

I’m a feminist because of Katherine Heigl. Wait, let me clarify. I’m a proud feminist because of women, like Katherine Heigl, who have fought tooth and nail for a seat at the table set by and for men. (Growing up the only daughter of a single mother also helped.)
Heigl has been in showbiz for decades, making her film debut at 14 years old as Kathryn, a dreamy, naive pre-teen in 1992 romance drama That Night. In 1994, she landed her first major supporting role as boundary-pushing teenager Nicole in romcom My Father the Hero, before starring in 1999 TV series Roswell as popular girl Isabel Evans.

Whether that's traveling deeper into a galaxy far, far away with new "Star Wars" shows, uncovering uncharted corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or catching up with fan-favorite characters from beloved shows and movies like "The Santa Clause," "Night at the Museum," or "Enchanted," the House of Mouse's streaming platform continues to offer interesting and exciting ways to revitalize their biggest franchises. Although, the service also creates an avenue to revitalize lesser-known or forgotten properties from Disney's past. With their 100th anniversary just around the corner, that's likely to happen a lot more in 2023. But even before the new year is upon us, the company has announced that they're taking another trip back to Witch Mountain.

For audiences, television is entertainment, but for the companies behind the scenes, TV is big business. From the late '20s through the early '80s, American Broadcasting Company (ABC), National Broadcasting Company (NBC), and Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) had no lasting competition and they ruled the television landscape. In their heyday, the big three produced loads of classics like "The Three Stooges," "The Lone Ranger," "Gunsmoke," "Howdy Doody," "The Ed Sullivan Show," and "Bonanza," just to name a few. I've never seen an entire episode of any of those shows, but I recognize their names and know, generally, what they are about, which proves they have a firm foothold in popular culture. Cementing such a place in entertainment history is something every television show hopes to do, but doing so got a lot harder in the '90s.

Nutter, best known as Emmy-winning executive producer and director of ‘Game of Thrones’, came up earlier this week in the trial when a woman accusing Weinstein of rape told the jury that she confided in Nutter after she was allegedly assaulted by Weinstein, reports Variety.
She said that Nutter was the first person she told about the incident in question.
Nutter was working with the model and actor – who is known in the case as Natassia M. – on a commercial in 2007 or 2008. During his testimony, Nutter said that Natassia M. is now a friend and someone he has mentored in the industry. He had hired her on a few shows throughout the years, including ‘Dark Angel’.
In Oct. 2009, Natassia M. called Nutter to disclose her encounter with Weinstein in London.

David Nutter, who has directed key episodes – many of them successful pilots – of a stunning number of popular TV shows from “The X Files” to the infamous “Game of Thrones” Red Wedding shocker, took the stand Thursday in the rape trial of Harvey Weinstein to support the testimony of a Jane Doe witness and friend, fulfilling an oath he made to her years ago.
Nutter followed the testimony of “Nm,” a model and actress from Norway who testified Wednesday that she had met Weinstein only a few times before when one night, after the 2008 BAFTAs in London, she awoke to the Miramax mogul banging on her hotel room door. She said he was disheveled and agitated as he shoved his way in, pushed her down on the bed and raped her – then assaulted her again upon subsequent meetings.
