WILD TIGER is a stock kung fu adventure made in Taiwan with better production values than you might expect from the country and era. The first third of the film has better story telling than normal and some of the plot twists keep you on the edge of your seat. It tells of a boorish gang leader who gets a young woman drunk before raping her. He then treats her as his own even though she's already married to another unsuspecting bloke. The woman decides to fight back but is herself killed, leading her husband down a pathway to revenge.

The film has plentiful staged action which isn't too bad to watch given the constraints the film-makers were invariably facing. It also has more sex and nudity than the typical kung fu film, and an inventive high rise climax which is well staged considering the budget. One interesting thing about the production is that it's listed as future Venom star Chiang Sheng's first screen appearance, but good luck spotting him. Sheng doubtlessly plays a background goon in a scene or two rather than having a featured role but try as I might I couldn't see him at all. The rest of the cast was unknown to me, although Wang Ping makes for a solid enough hero type.
