  • Warning: Spoilers
"Carnivale" (Not to be confused with the television show of the same name) was a weird animated film which, despite having some interesting elements it doesn't feel as something completely satisfying.

On one side, the animation quality of this movie was pretty poor, with mediocre designs and one unoriginal (And dated) animation technique; on the other side, the main characters were funny and interesting, and the voice acting (Which had the participation of celebrities such as Helena Bonham Carter and Hugh Laurie)was pretty good.

Now, the plot of this movie was a mixed bag: It had some entertaining and original moments, but it also many plot holes and a muddled narration as well, resulting in a deeply flawed film, with more problems than virtues.

However, like I said before, the characters from this movie were interesting, being the best part of this movie. Personally, I think that this movie could have been much better.
  • The visuals and sound effects on this film are great! I just wish a little more care had been taken with the story line. Perhaps if I'd seen it another time or two things might have fallen into place - like - what was the origin of the Carnivale in the first place? (I *thought* I was paying relatively close attention but that slipped by me). And just who gave Milly (the "first" girl? ) the little white cloth doll? But it was interesting - a transmutation of Pinochio's "Donkey Island" a little bit of "Somewhere in Time" and no doubt additional influences from Deane Taylor. Perhaps a novelization of the script/story would pull things together a bit more.

Or maybe I just need to see it more than once.
