Great show!!
This is the BEST show! Mariska Hargitay (Detective Olivia Benson) and Christopher Meloni (Detective Elliot Stabler) are great for the 2 parts and work so well together. The cases are based on real cases and if I didn't know they are all actors i'd say it IS real.

The show is my inspiration for wanting to join the NYPD sex crimes. I recently found out about sex crimes in my home town (San Diego, CA). I want to intern there before I go to NYC and join.

I have learned a lot about law and all that from the show. There was an episode about FAS (Fetal Alcoholic Syndrome) which became my topic for my health project. In general I learned about law and prosecution and it is a great show to watch! 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, EXCELLENT!

Trivia

The photo in the opening credits for Dann Florek (from the beginning of the show) and Ice-T (starting with the second episode of season two) did not change until season nine, when the entire cast received updated photos (coinciding with the debut of Adam Beach). The photo for Mariska Hargitay has changed seven times (season one has one photo, seasons two through four, and the first four episodes of season five have a second, the rest of season five has a third, seasons six through eight have a fourth, seasons nine and ten have a fifth, seasons eleven through fourteen have a sixth, and season fifteen to the present have a seventh). Christopher Meloni, Richard Belzer, and BD Wong got new photos starting with the fifth episode of season five(coinciding with the debut of Diane Neal as Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak) before they all received new photos in season nine. Diane Neal had one photo for season five, a second for seasons six and seven, a third for season eight, and a fourth for season nine. Tamara Tunie, who first appeared in the opening credits in season seven, received a second photo for season eight, and a third photo for seasons nine through twelve, before she was removed from the credits in season thirteen.

Quotes

M.E. Melinda Warner: No fluids present. Tests show spermicide common in condoms.
Elliot Stabler: This is fun.

Goofs

Multiple cases are shown which have interstate or international components. While NYPD SVU detectives might cooperate in those cases, they would primarily be handled by the FBI or some other federal law enforcement agency.

Crazy Credits

From the second episode of the second season (2000-2001), the opening credits break the pattern followed by the earlier episodes of SVU, the original Law & Order, and Criminal Intent. Instead of the credits ending with a shot of the cast walking towards the camera, they instead are shown sitting around a desk.
