Star Trek and SpongeBob SquarePants are two of the top five most popular franchises on Paramount+. Now, Collider has an exclusive first look at a new ad that takes the two properties and squishes them together. You may never look at Star Trek or SpongeBob the same way after this universe-shattering crossover.
In the new ad, Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), commands the "Patrick Starship Enterprise," a gigantic starship resembling everyone's favorite dim-witted starfish, complete with the unmistakable voice of Bill Fagerbakke. Spock (Ethan Peck) and Sandy Cheeks (Carolyn Lawrence) survey the stars, while Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) and Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) man the controls...which also double as a grill for Krabby Patties. SpongeBob SquarePants is the only kids’ comedy show in TV history that could get away with making amazing jokes about Art Nouveau and French Post-Impressionism, and nothing you can d’Orsay or do will change my mind.
Of all the influential cartoons from the Golden Age of Nickelodeon, no series put in a more impressive effort to educate its target audience on art and culture that was way above their reading level than SpongeBob SquarePants. In fact, when the Gothic horror blockbuster Nosferatu premiered late last year, director Robert Eggers thanked SpongeBob for introducing so many members of his audience to the classic horror character and the original 1922 silent German Expressionist vampire film.
Despite being a silly animated show about an anthropomorphic sponge who makes cheeseburgers, the SpongeBob SquarePants writers’ room was full of educated art-lovers whose devotion to classic culture so often sailed 20,000 leagues over their viewers’ heads.

After Microsoft’s massive buyout, everyone expected to see the whole Call of Duty lineup appear on the Game Pass sooner or later. This prediction is slowly coming true; however, the next game getting added to the Xbox’s subscription-based catalog could just have been skipped over for its original version.
As part of their upcoming lineup, the company’s official blog post reveals that multiple games, including GTA 5’s return and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, are coming to Game Pass. But before fans of the franchise start reliving their nostalgia-fueled glory days, there’s a catch: this is not the 2009 classic that we all played and loved, but rather the 2022 reboot instead.

In 2017, when a nurse came into the room and told my wife and I that our son Noah, who was 2 at the time, was autistic the words didn’t destroy us. What they did was wipe away the fog of uncertainty, and provide a game plan that would have him receiving all the support he needs.
Which is why, nearly eight years later, hearing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — now the secretary of Health and Human Services — stand at a podium and describe children like my son as part of an “autism epidemic,” allegedly caused by unnamed “environmental toxins,” feels like whiplash.
Kennedy stood before the cameras and declared that children like Noah “will never pay taxes, never hold a job, never use a toilet unassisted.” He called autism “a preventable disease” and promised a lightning-fast investigation to root out its so-called environmental causes. He brushed aside decades of scientific research...

With Sony adding some exciting titles to Ps Plus this month, Microsoft has decided that it won’t lag behind. Some of the best-rated Aaa titles are coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, creating a lot of anticipation among the fans. As always, some titles will be leaving the Game Pass as well, so make sure you get the most out of them before their departure.
Along with this, many more titles were added to the Game Pass earlier this month, so if you haven’t purchased the Game Pass yet, now is the best time. With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, many hoped to see some old Call of Duty games on the game pass, and it seems like it’s finally happening.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, 11am, Film4, Wednesday, April 9
Looking for some midweek anarchy? Then Bikini Bottom is definitely the right place. Its residents have always been cheerfully unhinged and Stephen Hillenburg's creations stepped up surprisingly well from television to film. This enjoyably surreal sequel carries on that fine tradition with a plot concerning the theft of the secret Krabby Patty recipe by a pirate but that's really just something to hang the general mayhem on as SpongeBob takes a slapstick swim through time and space and the jokes arrive in waves. If you get a hankering to soak up a bit more SpongeBob, the fifth spin-off film, Plankton: The Movie, was recently added to Netflix.

Are you an “Avatar: The Last Airbender” fan who has quietly…or not so quietly…been resenting that the show and its upcoming film have had to share that title with a different “Avatar”? Well, Paramount finally has an answer to that.
During the studio’s CinemaCon presentation, Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation president Ramsey Naito announced that when Aang makes his big screen debut next year, it will be with a film that bears his name: “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.”
In his film debut, Korean singer-songwriter Eric Nam will voice Aang in the film, which is set years after the beloved Nickelodeon series and will follow him in his young adult years. Dave Bautista and Steven Yeun will also star in the film with “Rugrats” and “Fairly OddParents” voice star Dionne Quan and Jessica Matten.
“The Legend of Aang” is one of several Nickelodeon titles on Paramount’s film slate.

An adaptation of Stephen King’s The Long Walk will finally be strolling into theaters this fall.
During its presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning, Lionsgate confirmed that the Francis Lawrence-directed film will be released wide on Sept. 12. The thriller stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick and Josh Hamilton with Judy Greer and Mark Hamill.
Though it is not the first King book to be published, the novel is notable in that it is reportedly the first he ever wrote, while a student at the University of Main. Published under his pen name Richard Bachman, The Long Walk is described as a dystopian thriller centering on the contestants of a grueling and vicious annual walking contest that requires 100 boys to keep a certain pace without stopping. If they do, they receive a warning.

It would seem that Taylor Sheridan and everyone involved in making 1923 is done with giving us glimmers of hope. Because after last week’s episode ended on a (for this show) lighter note, putting Spencer on a train that might bring him home to Montana, that trajectory — much like the train! — stops dead in its tracks in Sunday’s hour.
And then it backs up and runs over two characters, leaving us to grieve their lifeless bodies. Next week’s finale is going to Hurt, isn’t it?

HBO's prestige teen drama "Euphoria" has a great deal in common with the Cartoon Network series "SpongeBob SquarePants." Both shows follow a chaotic group of friends who are just trying to keep their heads above (or below) water in a world where nothing quite makes sense. How can all these high school kids afford top designer clothing just to wear casually to school? Which school administrator approved funding for this wildly inappropriate play? Why are there so many fires at the bottom of the ocean? These are just a few of life's unanswerable mysteries.
Fresh off an Oscar win for her performance in "Anora," actress Mikey Madison hosted this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live" and finally brought the worlds of "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Euphoria" together. Did you ever want to see a more dramatic and realistic version of SpongeBob SquarePants? Well, whether you did or not, Saturday Night Live is giving it to you.
On this week’s SNL, the Please Don’t Destroy boys were greeted by host Mikey Madison, who walked into their office dressed as Squidward from the classic Nickelodeon cartoon. She pitched them SpongeBob as a dramedy: ‘Because when you think about it, what is SpongeBob really about?… It’s about a friend group navigating life in their early 20s.”

Mikey Madison's Oscar might soon have some company in the form of an Emmy for Saturday Night Live. Fresh off her Best Actress win earlier this year, the Anora star made her hosting debut on the long-running sketch comedy series. Given the frequency with which SNL hosts have competed in the comedy guest acting categories at the Emmys, Madison's awards season run might be far from over. Here are the best moments from Madison's first hosting gig, from the opening monologue to the best sketches.

Universal and director Jon M. Chu's Wicked sequel, which was recently re-titled Wicked: For Good, is set to take flight this November, and the first poster has been spotted in the wild at CinemaCon.
The poster hasn't been officially released, but we do have a pretty good quality version. The artwork features Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) facing-off as Madame Morrible's (Michelle Yeoh) flying monkeys approach in the background.
The first movie took in an impressive $744.07 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical.
In a recent interview, Chu described his sequel as a “doozy,” adding: “I did not know the context of where we’d be in society right now. It becomes eight times more relevant than before when you’re talking about truth and consequences of making the right or wrong choices. It’s intense.”

Another new ‘Yellowstone’ series is in the works according to reports, and NBCUniversal apparently thinks it should get the streaming rights.
A war between Paramount Global and NBCUniversal could be brewing that would put the intra-family conflicts of the Dutton clan to shame. The conflict may escalate thanks to a new spinoff of “Yellowstone,” the neo-Western drama which wrapped up a tumultuous five-season run in 2024. Unlike a previously announced series featuring “Yellowstone” characters, the new series is intended for the CBS broadcast network, but NBCU thinks it should still get access to streaming rights for any new shows spawned by the original.
Key Details: The new “Yellowstone” spinoff could reportedly focus on Kayce Dutton. **Another “Yellowstone” spinoff featuring Beth Dutton is already in the works. The deal licensing “Yellowstone“‘s streaming rights to Peacock reportedly ends in 2029. Sign Up $7.99+ / month peacocktv.com

She's done being taken for granted and decides on her own plan for world domination. The second SpongeBob spinoff feature to land on Netflix will delight fans of all ages with a slick combo of cool animation styles and toe-tapping original songs. There's a lot to like as the franchise keeps chugging in the right direction.
Plankton: The Movie is an origin story, a rocky romance, to say the least, and a rollicking adventure with all of our favorite underwater critters. The clever screenplay, co-written and based on an original story by Plankton himself, voice actor Mr. Lawrence, pokes good fun...

Ah, SpongeBob SquarePants, an animated series that has enjoyed a long-lasting career that most children's shows only dream of. As hard as it might be to believe, Nickelodeon's highly lucrative talking sponge (Tom Kenny) just recently turned 25 years old, and the original series is still going to this very day. With popularity like that, it makes perfect sense why the IP has branched out into other mediums, such as several video games, a Broadway musical, a boatload of merchandise, and even a few movies. The original The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie still holds up as a classic adaptation, and the other films aren't too shabby either, which puts a lot of pressure on the newest installment, Plankton: The Movie.

Plankton: The Movie is streaming on Netflix on March 7.
The tragic death of Spongebob SquarePants’ creator, Stephen Hillenburg, should’ve ended the franchise. It’s clear that Nickelodeon has almost no idea what to do except to go away from everything that made the show and its movies so excellent. In its latest bizarre endeavor to create spinoff films, following Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, Nickelodeon has placed a focus on the green guy who’s always trying to steal the Krabby Patty’s secret formula in Plankton: The Movie, a ridiculous spinoff with little merit.
