Buffalo Police on Parade (1897)
When you view a lot of films from the 1890s you'll notice that there were some very popular things. Firemen racing to a fire. Ships leaving a dock. Trains. Another popular genre was just showing a parade and that's exactly what you get here. The film runs less than a minute so obviously you're not going to be getting any sort of story but we basically get to see the Buffalo police department walking down the streets as part of a parade. I often say how much I enjoy watching these older movies simply because they show up a moment in time. I think it's rather unique getting to see something like a parade, a form of entertainment for people back in the day. It's also fascinating to get to see what type of clothes were being worn at the time. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking here but this is certainly worth watching.
