  • Amanda Bynes is so funny coming from "All That" and she is so charismatic and enjoyable to watch. This also spawned a spin-off sitcom called "Drake & Josh". So many good thins about this show.

The jokes are clean-humored yet hilarious. I remember seeing all the episodes and loving all the sketches. Spoofs on Blockbuster, Judge Judy, Survivor, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and other pop culture references are one of the many reasons this show will always be funny. Even thought repetitive, those Hillbilly Moments are slapstick and always give me a good laugh.

This show is so nostalgic of my childhood. I also remember LFO performing, which was also something amazing. This TV show was one of the funniest kids show I have ever seen. Miss Bynes, we love you!
  • Amanda Bynes is well-deserving of her own show. She's improvisationally superb, comically hilarious, dramatically gifted, vocally versatile, physically agile, personally friendly, realistically down-to-earth, and absolutely beautiful.

The Amanda Show was very good throughout its 3-season run on Nickelodeon. Almost every sketch was hilarious. True, it had its dull points, but what show doesn't? Also, most of the rest of the cast was talented as well, especially Drake Bell.

In fact, not only did The Amanda Show recieve remarkable ratings for its Saturday night time slot, but it only ended because AMANDA HERSELF wanted to move on, the show wasn't cancelled by the execs.

Now Amanda Bynes stars on the WB's "What I Like About You", so you can see her radiance there weekly, as well as in "Big Fat Liar" and the coming-soon "What A Girl Wants".

my childhood! this show is my childhood! Amanda Bynes was a comedic genius in this movie! She was so great in this show and she has such energy in the show! She really wanted to entertain you and she wanted you to have a good time. I will always love this show because it had such simple jokes and skits like the homework hotline. The other actors in the show were great as well and they really gave their all. They were really funny and they seemed like they really wanted to entertain you as well and they wanted you to have fun. I will always love this show and it will always be a classic to me! I wish there were more kid shows like this nowadays. I feel like kids show nowadays try too hard to be funny and they aren't genuine or sincere.
  • I am a bit surprised by some of the comments from users regarding this show. This show is meant to appeal to kids, and so it is not surprising that adults might not find it amusing. Some of it is rather silly, but the show does have moments. I am an adult, and sometimes watch it and I think the Judge Trudy sketches can be good, I especially like when she stands up for the kids, and punishes the parents for being idiots. And of course when Judge Trudy shouts "BRING IN THE DANCING LOBSTERS!" Have some fun, and don't take things so seriously.

OK, while this show didn't even hit me until I was way out of it's demographic, I did watch it a few times (child at heart and all that), and I recall actually laughing a few times.

Now, granted I have to look at the target demographic to see if the show was a good show for everyone else involved, but for me, I felt that it was like a young person's version of the old Carol Burnett show or the like.

The skits were fairly funny, considering the age group it was designed for, and they were all fairly creative.

I think the part that I actually really enjoyed, which is a little weird, was the theme music. It was so catchy that I still get the little 'Amanda amanda amanda show' part stuck in my head to this date.

So, for the young and the young at heart, I'd recommend giving it a chance to see if it's your bag.

The story of how Amanda Byrnes got this show is amazing. Due to her popularity on ALL THAT, another Nick series, someone decided to make her the 13 year old start of her own show. Of course being on Nick, this appealed mostly to young teens.

The thing is, the show actually is a half hour version of the variety format which dominated network television for years. Somehow, Amanda, all of 13 years old, makes it work. There are a variety of guests including some musical guests.

Very often the skits are funny. Some of them parody the politics going on while the show ran, & there is a particularly biting episode with a parody of the 2000 election with some sharp slaps at both Al Gore & George Bush. Slapping Bush is easy, but this is one of the few hilariously funny slaps of Gore to be found anyplace.

Nick has a run of pretty decent teen talent during the late 1990's & Amanda was one of the better discoveries.
  • The Amanda Show stars Amanda Bynes and other known Nickelodeon stars from the 90s and 00s. The Amanda Show is a spin off show from All That and is just a Saturday Night Live for kids. I loved this show so much because it was so funny and yeah, as a 16 year old, it still is. I am devastated that they do not play these shows on Nickelodeon AU anymore and it disappoints me even more that they do not make shows like these and instead they make absolute slop like: Big Time Rush, House of Anubis, Back at the Barnyard etc. This is the same as Disney AU, they have terrible shows: Kick Buttowski, Fish Hooks, Pair of Kings etc. Even when they do put the decent shows on: That's So Raven, Suite Life of Zack and Cody (NOT SUITE LIFE ON DECK), Lizzie McGuire, they are all on at midnight. But the old Nickelodeon and Disney will always remain in my childhood!

    10/10
  • This show is very funny and hilarious. I love when Amanda is Judge Trudy, Crazy Courtney, and Penelope Taynt when she saids Amanda Please, and Wait Please and so on. She make me laugh. This show is as good as Kenan & Kel. The only thing that i'm not really into is Moody's Point.
  • This show is the most horrible, irritating show ever! I didn't think that actors or writers could stoop so low. The acting in this show is terrible, I didn't think that acting could be this bad but I was seriously wrong. The writers must have permanent writers block while writing this show, either that or they let their 2 year old child write it. And what was the creators thinking of! Sketch shows are mostly good, but Nickelodeon need to wake up for crying out loud! Their fan base is depleting rapidly as they still think that Rancid shows like this, their stupid commentary and those gross Nick logo ads they have (you know about bogey's, that kind of stuff) are still cool. My Baby sister is more Mature than Nickelodeon are. what happened to the Classic shows like 'Kenan & Kel' or 'Sabrina: The Teenage Witch'. I warn all of you that if this show comes on to get out a bucket of paint, use a paintbrush to put a bit on a wall...And watch it Dry!
  • This show was amazing! It was very funny and clever. It didn't do very well on Nick (*Shuder*) because it didn't talk to down kids, as with most of Dan Shinders shows (except Zoey 101...I'm not exaggerating when I say that is one of the worst shows ever created) But this show was great it also introduced the 2 of the most underrated personalities on kids show biz, Drake and Josh. The reason I don't give it all 10 stars is because it ha it's off sketches. But when they finally release it on DVD...pick it up! From the Dancing Lobsters to Amanda Please this show was the Arrested Development of kids shows...was canned too fast and was too smart for the room.

My sister started watching this thing on nickelodeon that she had never watched before.

The Amanda Show And believe me when i saw this. This show is utter garbage.

Obviously Amanda Bynes dosen't relise that the audience is payed to laugh. She seems to like the idea of the "adoring fans" worshipping and bowing down to her feet when quite clearly the audience now she's crap too.

The sketches are very very annoying such as: Hillbilly moments, totally kyle, the wrestlebergs and the always annoying "Not a problem!" As if she dosen't understand already that the so called fans are paid to like her she has to make the annoying character penelope.

Penelope is meant to be one of the fans that over-obsess. When there's clearly nothing to obsess about The show is very crap but the kids like it (which i don't get) and that what matters.
  • Good grief! I can't believe all the negativity here. This show is hilarious! I am 34 years old and my husband is even older than me. We used to sit and watch it with our kids and we would all laugh so hard. We even recorded some episodes and watched them over and over. Anyone who says Amanda has no talent doesn't know what talent is. She is a gifted actress and comedian. Watching her show reminded me of watching the old Carol Burnett show when I was younger. Sure, some of the skits are silly no-brainers, but everything doesn't have to be deep. The Carol Burnett skits were the same way. Sometimes you just have to be silly! It is a silly show but it is fun and my whole family enjoyed it. We own the movie "What a Girl Wants" which we've watched many times. It is a better example of how funny Amanda is and what a great actress she is. She is a beautiful young lady with a great future ahead of her. The first time I actually saw her was on the movie "Big Fat Liar" and I remember telling my husband, that girl is going to go places. I hadn't seen the Amanda show at that time but we started watching it and loved it. If you haven't seen it, don't listen to these people, give it chance for yourself. MAAA HAAAAA

I used to watch the nick show all that and i thought that Amanda's performance was really great. She was really funny and entertaining. But then All That lost all of it's original cast members (and got HORRIBLE new ones)so i was very disappointed. But then the Amanda show was on air and i was back to my same happy TV watching. This show is REALLY REALLY great and entertaining. I love the Penelope skits with Amanda acting as her number one fan. Also the one skit where all the students have super powers like the rhyming power. haha. also judge Trudy was hilarious. All around this show is amazingly funny and entertaining. Amanda Bynes is so sweet, talented and hilarious.I'm 16 and i still LOVE it. I just wish that it didn't go off air. I am ordering the dvds off line. This show is REALLY great in every way and i think that every young person or even older person should give this show a chance. It will always be one of my favorites.

Although I've come to appreciate Amanda Bynes' talent and general likability in the movies She's The Man and Hairspray, I dismissed The Amanda Show as way too broadly acted and juvenile in it's humour, much like Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, and all those other tween-girl shows which I've channel surfed quickly away from.

Recently I came across positive comments about one recurring segment called Moody's Point, which sounded interesting - intended as a spoof of teen soaps like Dawson's Creek. That actually has the potential to be funny (although I don't dislike the Creek). So I thought I'd give The Amanda Show another chance. Luckily all of Moody's Point can be found on youtube.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Like many so-called spoofs, Moody's Point fails to address (and mock) the actual conventions of the genre or specific show/whatever it's supposed to be mocking. Instead of being a clever satire, the writers rely on easy gross-out gags and slapstick. They don't even bother to recreate famous moments from Dawson's Creek and put their own (hopefully humorous) spin on them. With the exception of the opening credit sequence. It seems clear to me that the writers/producers aren't very familiar with Dawson's Creek, and probably never watched an episode all the way through. I guess they never got past those opening credits.

The "characters" on Moody's Point are ciphers, not clearly defined or recognizable archetypes. Meanwhile, the storyline... emergency surgeries/heart transplants, babies switched at birth/mysterious parentage ... all of these things are staples of daytime soaps for housewives. Not primetime teen dramas. With all the silly hospital hijinks and medical mix-ups on Moody's Point, I figure The Amanda Showrunners were inspired more by that Muppet Show sketch "Veterinarian's Hospital" (no doubt a staple of their childhood), moreso than Dawson's Creek or any other teen soaps.

In any case, The Muppet Show was much funnier, Moody's Point was a waste of a good idea, and I still don't like The Amanda Show. Oh, she deserves her own show, but with better writers.... and better supporting actors. The rest of the Moody's Point cast was horrible. Amanda's the only one who realized that she should play her character earnestly and seriously, in order to best capture that teen angst mood. The other actors were so over-the-top with their exaggerated screaming and crying, they belonged in a spoof of I Love Lucy instead. (I realize that Amanda's a fan of Lucille Ball, but, whatever, I hate Lucy.) At least Amanda seems to understand that you don't need to bleat and bray and generally make an ass of yourself in order to be funny. The best comedians are equally good at drama/tragedy and can convey pathos. Bill Murray, for instance, or Charlie Chaplin. And (while I'm not saying she's the next Chaplin!) I thought I saw a bit of that in Amanda's performance, especially the scenes involving meeting her birth parents/saying goodbye to her old life. Glad Amanda Bynes said goodbye to this show, and hope she keeps moving on to bigger and better things.
  • While Dan (Schneider) produced All That, the first official show he created for Nick was the Amanda Show which first aired on October 16, 1999. It was a sketch show starting the then 13 year old Amanda Bynes. This was my one of my favorite live action shows growing up (and this was back when I could watch whatever show was on instead of limiting myself with the same shows), and watching clips from the show will prove my point. Let's talk about the best thing of the show. Amanda Bynes herself is one of the funniest actresses in show business. Every single sketch she's in are just priceless to watch and she never fails to disappoint me. After all she did came from All That and was a cast member between seasons 3-6 and she really deserved her own show the same way Kenan and Kel did. I really don't wanna talk about her life nowadays because it's just so sad seeing her suffer the same path as some Disney Channel stars has suffered. All I hope is for her to act again once she's normal. I want to entertained by her again. On another note, the first season had two cast members that we'll never seen again. One of them is a guy named John Kassir who actually voiced Raymundo on Rocket Power. The other is a black girl named Raquel Lee, and they didn't gave her that much memorable moments (she was overshadowed by Amanda). Also worth noting that if it wasn't for this show, we wouldn't even have Drake and Josh. Yes as you can see, 3 out of 5 cast members were part of the Amanda Show: the mom (Nancy Sullivan) and the boys themselves (Drake Bell and Josh Peck). They were obviously a lot younger back then and they both had high pitched voice. So all in all, we wouldn't have all of these Schneider produced shows if it wasn't for All That and the Amanda Show. Definitely worth a watch if you want to be entertained. Dan Schneider's magnum opus imo.

Before I get dissed for watching a show "out of my demographic", I gotta let you know that I watched this when I was still a kid. Even then, it was outright terrible.

A lot of the sketches were just lame: the "Hillbilly Moments" (one goofy hick would tell another a knock-knock joke, then hit him upside the head with something mentioned in the punchline), Blockblister (a video store owned by foreigners who would sell poor homemade versions of popular movies), Commercial skits where they would shill stuff like a soft drink sucked out of a sumo wrestler's gut, and Souper Dooper, in which a man and his daughter try to sell nasty fast-food products.

I'm sure some of these sound okay on paper, but I guess there was a failure to communicate backstage, because they didn't turn out that way. Too many of the sketches didn't even have any real jokes--only some stuff that was just...there.

The only cool sketches were Tony Pajamas, about a high-school age mob boss, and Moody's Point, a satire of teen dramas like Dawson's Creek.

Why do I know so much about it? Eh, it was the only thing on in the afternoon. Plus, I liked All That, so I figured a spin-off would be good TV. I was wrong.
  • I don't really like it how a lot of people here keep saying how this show is so terrible. I think it's a good show in my opinion. One of the best live-action Nick shows since "Kenan And Kel". Many of the skits entertain me, especially the ones with Mr. Gullible and the hilarious two "Survivor" spoofs. The first was everyone stuck in a car, the second was everyone stuck in a bathtub. It was so amusing to see which character would drive the others the most craziest.

I agree, some of the skits were pretty stupid at times ("Moody's Point", the one where a group of people, like cheerleaders or old ladies attack people) but most of the times it's very funny! I especially like the skits with the family that does everything wrong. I always laugh every time they have those hilarious skits where Amanda crank calls an old man to irritate him. It's dead funny! Also, the one where the family works terribly at places like movie stores ("This is better!" "Much better!")

Overall, this was a memorable Nick show. It gets a 9/10. Keep this and "Kenan And Kel" around.
  • Very entertaining even as I watch it as an adult. It gave me genuine laughs. I feel the nostalgia but it's also very clever. If I had kids I would definitely introduce them to the Amanda show. Its very funny, happy and unique. Ifeel lthis show is very underrated. I have not thought about it in decades. It brought me joy to see it again at the age of 30. I love the sketch comedy done by teens. One may think it would be dumb but you'd be surprised. My favorite skits have always been hillbilly moment and the skits with Amanda's biggest fan. If you are sad, no matter what age you are, watching the Amanda show will put you in a happy mood.
  • omg. this show is the best. Amanda is the greatest.

All hail Amanda ..please, *bows down*

She is so, like, totally funny.

Totally Kyle is the best. (played by Jared Bell)

"there was this one time............ when i went to my grandmas.... and i saw.............my grandma!!!!"

"a:knock knock d:who's there? a:beaver.... d:eerrrr.....beaver who? a:I'm gonna hit you round the head with a beaver! nuahahaha!"

With hilarious skits such as Judge Trudy, The Girls Room, Totally Kyle, Hilbilly moment, The Klutzs, and many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Warning: Spoilers
OK, this should be a quick review. When this show premiered in 1999, I was excited. I loved Amanda, I loved the other cast members, I loved the sketches - I thought the show was great! Again, though, there was a long period when I didn't watch it. It came on TV again during my teenage years, and I sat down to relive old memories. And it did not hold up well. I didn't laugh much, I didn't smile much, and it didn't bring me much.

The show features "All That" star Amanda Bynes, performing on her own sketch comedy show. She performs a character in nearly every sketch with other cast members. Her characters include Judge Trudy, Blini from Blockblister, Amber from "The Girls Room," Cynthia Worthington, and, of course, Penelope Taynt.

What's wrong with the show? Well, there are a couple of things. First of all, there's not set up for half the jokes. They come out of nowhere, and we're just supposed to accept that they happen. At the end of every "Judge Trudy" sketch, Judy Trudy orders to have the dancing lobsters come out...Huh? What? Why are there dancing lobsters? What do they have to do with anything that happened in the sketch? Why are they dancing? Why are they so big? The only thing we get is dancing lobsters, with no reason or explanation. That's not funny. There has to be some understanding as to why something is funny. While "Moody's Point" isn't exceptionally funny, the idea of it is. It mocks a lot of teen drama television shows. People who watch teen dramas will know why the "Moody's Point" sketch is funny. If we're given dancing lobsters with no lead in or build up, the joke falls flat. Second of all, a lot of these bad jokes are repeated. Let's say you laughed at the "Hillbilly Moment" sketch when you first saw it, the sketch where Amanda hits Drake Bell with a random object after a knock-knock joke. It may have been funny the first time you see it because it surreal that Amanda would have this random object in her hand. But after the sketch repeats itself episode after episode, the shtick dies down quickly. It's not funny because we know what's going to happen. Even though she uses a different object each time, we still know what she's going to do with it.

The show's creator, writer, and executive producer is, once again, Dan Schneider. If you read my review for "All That," you know how I feel about some of his work. His sense of comedy, if you want to call it that, lacks intelligence. There's nothing smart about it. Whether we get dancing lobsters or hillbillies slapping each other, there's no thought behind any of this. It really does feel like he's throwing things in front of the camera because he doesn't care about molding the young mind. It's pandering, it's patronizing, it's insulting, and it is stupid!

Is there anything good I can say about the show? Well, again, the performers aren't bad. I don't think they're as good as the original "All That" cast, but they're not bad. They're energized, entertaining, and they do bring some talent; they don't act like they're getting paid to do what they're told like the last "All That" cast. And the jokes can be funny sometime. Not very often, but sometimes you will giggle or chuckle at what the cast members are doing, or even at what the writers wrote. These two elements work just enough to give the show a pass.

I don't like the show, but maybe you will. If you do, just share with me why. I can't condemn you for having an opinion. Just tell me what you think and why you think that way. If the same things that bother me bother you, however, I recommend you skip the show. BOOYIKA!
  • No spoilers here. I'd watch Amanda 10 out of 10 over having to watch 1 night of Leno.

She may not be the writer, but she pulls off the stunts, and characters just great. True she does have 1 or 2 annoying characters, but I think you have to take into account that is where the humor is. Judge Trudy spin off of Judge Judy. Judge Judy IS ANNOYING. What would Amanda do make her spoof appear as Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm ? Amanda's one Hollywood starlet worth watching. How many other Hollywood actresses still live with mom and dad ? I saw the Ellen show before the Amanda show, and to tell you the truth there's a great many similarities in their humor. But I much prefer Amanda. Still waiting to see more releases of the Amanda show
  • Okay i realise i'm going to make myself very unpopular here just for my one line summary above, but i'm not going to let most of you say bad things about this show without saying why i think it ROCKS. This sketch style of comedy isn't usually my scene but Amanda Bynes is the most hilarious teen i have ever seen. She has the natural ability of being funny and a truckload of talent to go with it. When she does that hillbilly sketch i completely crack up. Infact i have laughed till my stomach was so tight i thought i would die. The only thing i don't like about the show is the segment on Moody's Point, it seems so dull and unfunny so i find myself channel hopping until that segment is over but the rest of the show is a total scream. Teenagers would prefer this style of entertainment to older people, i'm not a teenager but i never grew out of kids shows so i can still appreciate lighthearted comedy like The Amanda Show. Amanda portrays many diffrent characters and i think she performs great in all of them but i especially like the character of Courtney with the glasses and huge teeth. Courtney's appearance alone is enough to make me laugh and Amanda adds so much more to make Courtney even funnier than she already is. I'm not surprised Amanda Bynes is moving on to bigger things like her part in Big Fat Liar and i'm sure that's just the start for her. I'm looking forward to seeing alot more of Amanda in the future.
  • the amanda show rules.i think amanda bynes is a brilliant actress and all of the sketches are funny i think moodys point is very good and the skit when moody(amanda)and sternum kissed was good because it was serious but still funny because no one turned up at mistys(voice of helga on hey arnold)birthday. keep goin amanda and co. u rule also good luvk on films etc
  • At least this "All That" spinoff is better than that OTHER spinoff, you know, "Kenan and Kel". Amanda Bynes is truly talented. She deserves her own show. She's probably the funniest person to fall off the "All That" carousel. I'm sure many people agree with me. I'm always right about those things, having watched things like "All That" since they premiered. Amanda Bynes deserves better than "All That". She finally got what she deserved.
