two guys hired to play oompa loompas in the old 'willy wonka and the chocolate factory' movie are talking in their dressing room before a day of work.

one is an old cynical SOB and the other still believes in the magic of the art form and has big dreams. OK to fill out this review, lets see, the idealist is trying to memorize lines from 'a street car named desire' while he puts on his makeup and wig. the other guy tries to give him advice but yells 'look at us, were @#$ oompa loompas'.

throw in a few funny bits about the rotten child actors and its a nice flick. not 10/10 b/c some jokes don't come off quite so naturally.
  • This is a great short film, very unique. Very Troyer and Phil Fondacaro play actors who were cast as Oompa Loompas in Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Here they discuss their trade in the dressing room while putting on the Loompa suits. It balances humor and seriousness as best as any film possibly could. They joke about themselves and more "big time" actors. Overall, though, there's a sadness to the film as we realize that due to the fact that these guys were born small they will never be offered the lead role but will be left dancing in the background. Vern isn't that great of an actor, but this film is definitely worth seeing, it opened my eyes up to the world "bit players" must face.
