This is the best Dostoevsky adaptation I have ever seen.
This film, set in Russia in 1860, did an excellent job of capturing the essence of the Russian obsession with social status and class rank during this period. It tells the tragic tale of a young girl forced into an arranged marriage. The Victorian costumes were gorgeous and the acting was superb. I highly recommend this film.
