Only Star Trek series besides Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) (TOS) to end "prematurely" as a result of a cancellation by the network, instead of a decision by producers. When the series was threatened with cancellation after the third season, a fan campaign via internet was able to renew it for an additional season; the same thing had happened with TOS after the second season. However, also like TOS, broadcast of Enterprise was shifted to the "Friday evening death slot", when viewing rates are traditionally low. After unsurprisingly disappointing ratings, both shows were canceled anyway.

There are two versions of episode "Shockwave Part 2". It originally aired on 18-Sep-2002, but when it re-aired in its first rerun on 23-Oct-2002, it was an 'extended version', with about 1-minute 4-seconds of added footage.
