Whenever the video signal is being lost, instead of pixelating, as a digital signal would, the picture shows analog "snow," which would be unheard of by that era.
The closing credits of the first episode, "Broken Bow," uses a unique guitar instrumental version of the show's opening theme song, which has not been used in any further episode of the series.
The premiere episode, Broken Bow, originally aired as a two-hour TV movie. As has been the case with past Trek two-hour specials, minor edits were made when the episode is syndicated as a two-parter.
