  • Saajan chale sasural is one of the best comedy entertainers from the 90s. Follows the same template of putting govinda in situations that can induce the maximum laughs for the audiences. KAder khan- Govinda magic works like magic in every scene they are in. The villans are caricatures the songs are fun.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The story of the movie is lifted from Rajni-Krishna blockbuster Veera which in itself was inspired from a Telugu super hit from Allari Mogudu starring Mohan Babu. All the versions of this story are hits but being a Bollywood boy I prefer the Hindi version over any other version anyway. Most hard work, however, was gone in the Rajni film but the most entertaining is the Govinda one for me. The plot is simple. Shyam Sunder (Govinda) is a singer from a small town who falls in love with the daughter of his guru, Pooja played by Karishma Kapoor. They marry each other. But during a flood attack in the village, Pooja dies and unable to cope up with the loss of her love he moves to the town where he meets Divya (Tabu) who is an owner of a big music label. They fall in love after a few funny skirmishes and finally get married. Everything is going well for Shyam when one day Pooja returns, she wasn't dead after all. Now Shyam Sunder gets crushed between to woman, one whom he really loves and another who really loves him. The situation calls for comedy and whatever happens later constitutes the rest of the film. Again there is nothing much to discuss in terms of blocking, shots, editing and camera as everything is just bookish. The shots are simple as they are taught in film schools. The USP of the film is Govinda's acting and the songs composed by Nadeem Shravan and Sung mostly by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. If you e looking for a light film which is high on entertainment factor, start watching this film. I have always been in love with the songs of this film and the picturization of the songs is just the delight to watch. I love everything about this film. Why don't they make films like this anymore, I wonder.
