The story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German clergyman of great distinction, who actively opposed Hitler and the Nazis. His convictions cost him his life.
Justus von Dohnányi, who plays Eberhard Bethge, is a great-nephew of the real Dietrich Bonhoeffer, as well as the grandson of Hans von Dohnanyi (portrayed by Ulrich Noethen).
When Bonhoeffer is transported in a truck, along with other prisoners, his glasses disappear and reappear between shots.
R.H. Thomson is listed in the opening credits, but not in the closing ones.
