This rather adventurous feature from Michael Raven, boasting a terrific femme cast, is almost experimental in format, leading to a very unsatisfying ending that fortunately does not ruin the picture.
It limns in a series of flashbacks the rather empty life of a highly successful magnate Mickey G, who recalls rather ruefully his amorous conquests and missteps in interview segments introducing the sex vignettes.
Film is bookended by his encounter with fortuneteller Syren, exotic and brilliantly dramatic in her readings, crystal ball at the ready, that are the best thing in the movie, albeit Nonsexual in content.
Syren emphasizes over and over Mickey's need for self-confidence, a lesson he seems to take to heart but which fails to let him avoid a lonely, unfulfilled fate. Yes, he can have all the women his heart desires and all the wealth of what seems to be a porn empire (many a Sin City video is plugged shamelessly via posters in pornographer Herschel Savage's office before Mickey takes over his company and fires the creep), but without ever finding true love.
The script by Devan Sapphire (aka Dcypher) is deficient and inconsistent, especially in a key early scene where we see Mickey as a flunky working with mean Mr. Marcus for the porn company as little more than a clean-up man, yet when Mr. G miraculously gains instant wealth via inheritance from a rich uncle (how corny can Dycpher get?) he gets back at boss Savage but employs Marcus as his right-hand man.
Very well-shot by Jack Remy, the sex scenes are quite attractive, showing off a constellation of both superstars and underrated beauties from the turn of this century, notably Linda Thoren, Julie Meadows, Katja Kean and Dee. A young Jessica Drake is lost in the ensemble, while her main man Evan Stone has a screen credit for a literal walk-on role as extra, seemingly the chauffeur, appearing only momentarily in a flashy opening credits sequence.
