SILENT MÖBIUS (SAIRENTO MEBIUSU) 1998 ANIME SERIES.

SILENT MÖBIUS: A DARK, MYSTERIOUS ANIME!

Full of silence, and yet very noisy when it must, a singular and interesting anime that took us to a slightly distant future (we are, in theory, only five more years away right now) where the world had changed completely due to both advances in technology and in sorcery arts. A city where saying that its nights were black and dark was for sure not a pleonasm. Heavily influenced by movies like "Blade Runner" and creating and atmosphere where conflicts with extra-dimensional beings was the core of the plot kept the episodes in constant suspense. As an extra, most episodes in my opinion can be seen individually, even when, of course, you can´t understand everything if you are completely new to the series and you see an advanced episode, most of them have interesting sub-plots inside the main story, this sub-plots, are, in my opinion, the best part of this controversial anime series.

(spoilers) Silent Mobius has a simple story line. In the near future, there are weird monster esque things called Lucifer Hawks that are basically giving humanity a hard time. Tokyo forms the mystical something or other, a unique unit of police officers, all women, who also have weird powers. The show was one of those shows that tells a story, and ends after a certain time, not when show runs out of ratings. The animation is top notch, the character design is great, the writing is perfect, and the characters have more depth then any other animated show that I have seen. What is bad is that they stopped showing episodes of this truly great show on Tech TVs Anime Unleashed. If you can, watch this show. It has English on DVD, so those who don't know Japaneese can enjoy as well.
  • When I first watched the trailer of this series on some of my Gundam Wing volumes. I have to say that out of all the shows that I want to see, this was one of them. But when I watched the series on Tech TV's "Anime Unleashed",I was right. It truly was the best. But after seeing some of the episodes, the show went off the air. I was disappointed, but I had to see it again, and I got my chance. When I bought the DVD Collection at Best Buy, I got to see all the episodes that I've seen on "Anime Unleashed",and they were the best that I ever seen. And my favorite characters in the series were Katsumi, and Grosspoliner. And my favorite song in the show "Til the end of time". So in closing,if you have seen it on Anime Unleashed, then see it again. It's the best.
