While making Do Revenge for Netflix, Camila Mendes felt like she was working on a theatrical, not a made-for-tv movie.

“There was more of a priority in the art of it, you know?” says Mendes (Riverdale) of the campy film that follows a pair of high schoolers who go after each other’s bullies. Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and co-starring Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke and Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner, the clever film penned by Robinson and Celeste Ballard had a “bigger budget than a lot of high school movies do.”
“There was more priority being placed in putting together these beautiful cinematic shots and making the costumes look really vibrant and character specific,” recalls Mendes. “I do think this movie is something that could have been in a theater, and...

What makes a family?
That's the theme of Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 10.
This isn't the first time this season that this topic has been tackled.
In fact, Rossi offered a whole toast about it on Criminal Minds Season 10 Episode 6. Then there was Lewis' messed-up family on Criminal Minds Season 10 Episode 7.
It's almost like the producers are trying to hammer home a message: "Yeah, Hotch and Morgan are gone. But these guys will grow on you if you give them a chance."
Let's come back to that, and focus instead on a family that didn't work: The drug-driven misfits in the case of the week.
The quintet that came together from bad circumstances and became a family unit would be admirable, if not, you know, for the fact that they're trashing homes and robbing and killing people. That's just frowned upon and is bound to attract the wrong kind of attention.

Couples marry in Wisconsin, Tracy Morgan seriously injured, Peyton Reed to direct Ant Man
Remember those sexy photos of Jamie Dornan for Interview Magazine? It turns out we didn’t see them all, because some were nude, and we’ve got Nsfw bubble butt – and pickle!
The St. Louis Rams have posted video profiles for their players, including Michael Sam, detailing his college career, why he was a draft pick for the team, and what his hopes were. They didn’t include the famous kiss, but they do show him taking the call with his boyfriend.
Tracy Morgan was involved in a horrible multi-car accident in his limo bus with several other comedians returning to New York from a show in New Jersey. Morgan was airlifted to the hospital, while another comedian, James McNair, was pronounced dead. The driver of the tractor trailer that caused the crash has been charged...

We’ve seen a noticeable rise in recent years in terms of Lgbt visibility in Hollywood, but if you flash back even ten years ago—let alone twenty or thirty—the number of “out” performers and gay film and TV projects dwindles markedly. This was the Dark Ages, when Hollywood brought out maybe one movie a year with a gay character (who hopefully didn’t die or wasn’t a stereotype), and maybe one or two art-house films that broke through the clutter. Things began to improve in the 90’s, but it’s largely been since the age of reality television and the rise of cable over the past 15 years that we’ve really begun to see a more realistic breadth and scope of gay life being portrayed in a wide variety of ways.
Before that however, there were a handful of brave performers who—though not necessarily gay themselves...

Chicago – Call me a critical cheater but I separated out documentary films from my traditional Best of 2012 but I don’t want to let the strong year for non-fiction film go un-recapped. The broad variety of documentary work in 2012 was incredibly notable from true crime stories to historical documents to stories of cities in crisis. Let’s hope 2013 is just as strong for the form.

Arnon Goldfinger’s personal examination of his own family tree and how branches spread into Nazi history asks some questions that don’t have simple answers. When Goldfinger started to dig into his family past, he learned that his Jewish grandparents were incredibly close to a family who later became part of the Third Reich’s most important decision makers. And then they rekindled their friendship after the war. Were both side of this unique family friendship purely in denial?...

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (l-r)
The busy producing team of Neil Meron and Craig Zadan got a little busier recently when the duo, who head up Storyline Entertainment, were tapped to produce a little show called the Academy Awards next spring and the recent announcement that Seth MacFarlane would host created a stir in the Hollywood community.
But creating a stir is what Meron and Zadan do best, with high profile projects in film (Chicago), television (Smash and Bette Midler’s Gypsy) and theater (How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying). It’s no surprise then that this weekend at the Outfest Legacy Awards in Los Angeles, they’ll receive the Visionary Award from none other than Darren Criss, who is also performing at the event.
AfterElton grabbed some time on the busy calendar of Meron and Zadan to talk about what the award means to them, their plans for Oscar night,...

When the right to marriage equality in Iowa was threatened by a proposed constitutional amendment last year, a 19-year-old University of Iowa engineering student named Zach Wahls stood up in front of the legislature and told them not to allow discrimination to be written into the state's constitution.
In three minutes of testimony that went on to earn millions of views across the Internet and turned Zach into a media celebrity, he told them Iowa needed to protect its families, not denigrate them. He said he'd been raised by two moms, and he'd turned out pretty well – Eagle scout, excellent grades, making something of his life. "If I was your son, Mr. Chairman, I believe I'd make you very proud," he told the state's top lawmaker that day.
So how did Zach grow up to be an adult who makes not only his native state of Iowa but the whole Lgbt community proud?...

When ABC Family canceled lesbian-written, fat-positive show Huge earlier this week, it appeared that they might be getting a little less queer. But now Deadline.com is reporting that the network is working on a TV movie about Constance McMillen, who famously was not only disallowed from her high school prom for wanting to bring her girlfriend, but saw the entire dance canceled just to keep her away.
Deadline writes:
The project, in early stages of development, hails from Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and Sony Pictures TV who have optioned the rights to McMillen’s story. Ghost Whisperer creator/executive producer John Gray will write the script and is expected to direct.
They also note that the producers are openly gay and have won four GLAAD Media Awards for Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story, What Makes A Family and Wedding Wars.

The red carpet is an unusual spot to hang out with your ex - unless you're Rosie O'Donnell. Last week, at the New York City premiere of her documentary A Family Is a Family Is a Family: A Rosie O'Donnell Celebration, the comedian happily posed for photos alongside her four children - and Kelli Carpenter, her partner of 10 years whom O'Donnell only recently revealed she'd separated from in 2007. "What makes a family is love, and we all love each other," O'Donnell, 47, tells People. "We're gonna stay together and take care of each other as a family unit." The definition of...
