Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series matches.
In Spain, "G.L.O.W" began to be broadcasted in 1990, when the original show had almost been canceled. TeleCinco, the station that showed it, bought the version dubbed in Latin Spanish that had been offered in some Latin countries and hired sports commentator Héctor del Mar for narrating the matches. In the first episodes the comedic actress Mary Santpere was the co-host.
Del Mar, who still nowadays narrates WWE matches in Spanish TV, used to create a fake biography for the girls. For example, Suzie Spirit worked in a parfum store when she was approached by Hulk Hogan, who persuaded her to start wrestling. Americana had been attacked by a mate of her at the university and later she promised herself no one else would hurt her. Olympia beat Rick Rude in a one hand push ups contest, and Heavy Metal Sisters were crazy because they felt from a swing and hit their head on the concrete. Also, Hollywood and Wine often ran out of money and had to work as dish-cleaners every time they brought Matilda the Hun to a restaurant.
I'm Spanish Red, and I love tequila. When my blood gets hot, I'm even meaner! I'm American, just like all the rest, if you say I'm not, you'll get the Spanish Press!
