midhunam is undoubtedly the most enjoyable serious film of our times.... the movie sends across a strong message about staleness in relationships but at the same time the viewer is not bored even for a minute. This movie is one of priyadarshan's best after kilukkam... The movie revolves around a common man called sethu (portrayed brilliantly by mohanlal) who is trying to set up a biscuit factory of his own. The problems he faces while doing so forms the rest of the story. It is perhaps after watching this movie that you realize what kind of potential mohanlal as an actor has. The emotional scenes between mohanlal and urvasi during the final stages of the movie is the highlight of the movie... the best part of this movie is that almost everyone will be able to connect with the characters portrayed and the situations they are in. The scenes in which mohanlal tells urvasi what a marriage is supposed to mean seems so real that you forget you are watching a movie. Other highlights of the movie includes superb comedy by innocent (as a rowdy),jagathy sreekumar (as a police officer) and sreenivasan as mohanlal's companion. The screenplay is tight and keeps you gripped throughout. Urvasi also excels in the role of a childish bride. This is a must see for all married people and also for everyone who wishes to be married one day.
