Dionisis Daggas is a wealthy and rather ruthless lawyer, who lives at a luxurious apartment in the Kolonaki neighborhood of Athens. He has adopted upper-class manners and a snobbish behavior, despite having an impoverished background as the only son of a single mother. His wife Vana Dagga was the spoiled daughter of an industrialist, and has very expensive tastes. She is young and beautiful, but constantly sexually frustrated since Dionisis is rarely in the mood for sex. The two are shocked when a bohemian couple win the next-door apartment in a television contest. Nana Stamati is an eccentric artist and part-time con-artist, and her husband Timos Stamatis is an unemployed musician and petty thief. The Stamatis couple self-appoint themselves as their neighbors' best friends and frequently find ways to get payments from Dionisis. Nana and Vana at times partner up in their own money-making schemes.
