The comic "Bluntman and Chronic" is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation, they set out to wreck the movie.
The name of one of Jay and Silent Bob's online critic, "Magnolia-Fan", was inspired by a feud on the View Askew website's message board. After Kevin Smith posted a strongly negative review of Magnolia (1999), fans of Paul Thomas Anderson swarmed the board and criticized Smith.
Silent Bob's Mother:
Bobby Boy, stay here while mommy picks up the free cheese, kay? Here, this will keep the sun out of your eyes.
Silent Bob's Mother: You be good, now.
Jay's Mother: Alright, don't you fuckin' move you little shit machine. Your Momma's going to try to score.
Passerby: What the hell? 'Scuse me. ...
When Silent Bob is bong-sabering with Cockknocker, at one point if the movie is paused you'll notice that Cockknockers dildo-saber is just a white stick with a red glow to it.
After the credits, "That Woman" (God) closes the book on the View Askewniverse and prances away.
Viewers of the R1 DVD version who choose the French language option see a different version of the opening credits, with French text substituted, though the title of the film remains in English.
