A seasoned FBI agent pursues Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully forged millions of dollars' worth of checks while posing as a Pan Am pilot, a doctor, and a legal prosecutor.
DIRECTOR_TRADEMARK(Steven Spielberg): [flashlights]: At the beginning of the film, Carl shines one on the captured Frank Abagnale, Jr.'s face.
Frank Abagnale, Jr.:
Carl, how long do I have to work here?
Carl Hanratty: 7:15 in the morning, 4:00 in the afternoon, 45 minutes for lunch.
Frank Abagnale, Jr.: I mean, how long?
Carl Hanratty: Every day. Every day, Frank, until we let you go.
When Carl is shown Frank's yearbook photo, the closeup reveals that the photo is printed using the scatter dot pattern typical of a modern ink-jet printer, rather than the halftone dot pattern of printing processes of the day.
In the closing credits, Brian Howe is listed as playing "Tom Fox" and Frank John Hughes is listed as playing "Earl Amdursky". However in the film, Howe played Amdursky and Hughes played Fox. However, this was corrected for the DVD release.
In the French language version of the film, Frank teaches his high school Spanish class instead of French.
