I really, really, really want my money and time back!
First of all, I feel really bad for Steve Zahn! God knows this man is suffering after this movie, like, "What the #$*@ was I thinking!?" But nonetheless, after a complete farce like "National Security", I still like the guy...as for Martin Lawrence...well...
What was he thinking!? My friend and I went to see this movie thinking it was the 'lesser of two evils' --- boy, were we shot down. This movie, in the simplest terms --- SUCKS! Now, watching a movie in Manila isn't as expensive as watching it in the US. We shelfed out about...$2 to $3...not that expensive...but we still want our money back. And time! We want our time back too!
We killed brain cells trying to find humor in the endless barrage of "racial comments" Those comments were the death of this movie because we really didn't know how exactly to react to it. Now...we don't get offended that easily. We're tough chicks, my friend and I. I mean, we've had our racial slurs used in humor towards Asians and Filipinos...but to have 90 minutes of that was downright ANNOYING!
Hopefully, not all these slurs came from Lawrence (We have the writers to blame, the writers that should be 'run down by lots of BIG RED TRUCKS!)But, I can't help notice that the man has to play the 'black card' all the time.
Stick to humor, I mean, the first two or three slurs were funny because they came out of nowhere. But after that it seemed like it was the only joke they could come up with...namely Lawrence.
We couldn't help but sympathize with the character of 'Hank' -- God only knows he would've been better off with Jack Nicholson in "Anger Management" because he did a good job keeping calm around the ever so annoying "Earl". If I was "Hank" I would've really beaten the crap out of him.
Movie is a senseless waste of film, time and money. I think the other of our two evils would have done better. Friday, we watch "Kangaroo Jack", it may just be our saving grace!
