Three childhood best friends, and a guy they just met, take a road trip across the country, finding themselves and their friendship in the process.
At one point in the movie, the girls sing "Bye Bye Bye," which was a hit song by *NSYNC. This was an inside joke referencing the well-publicized romance between N'Sync member Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

Young Lucy: Here it is.
Young Mimi: Kit, I've got the shovel.
Young Kit: You do?
Young Mimi: Lucy, get the box.
When Lucy is on the phone to her dad and everyone is loading up the car outside the second hotel, Mimi is putting her stuff in the trunk of the car. You see Mimi look over at someone, shrug her shoulders and say, "What?" The directors were telling her that she was in Lucy's shot.
During the closing credits, Britney performs "Overprotected" and clips of bloopers are shown while Britney sings.
