Chris Evans' recent run of bad luck has continued with Red One, but his future projects may turn his prospects around. Evans is a well-known star who is likely best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which he played from 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger through 2019's Avengers: Endgame. However, he has also appeared in other well-known movies from the beginning of his career through his post-Marvel era, including 2001's Not Another Teen Movie, 2005's Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, 2010's Scott Piglrim vs. the World, 2013's Snowpiercer, and 2019's Knives Out.
In spite of the star-studded Red One cast which also includes Dwayne Johnson, Lucy Liu, and J. K. Simmons, it has so far proved to be a box office disappointment. Although the other Thanksgiving season releases Wicked, Gladiator II, and Moana 2 are all enjoying record-breaking grosses, the holiday action-comedy has...

The best Chris Evans movies and TV shows have almost been overshadowed by his work in comic book films. Evans' career has mostly been defined by his role as Steve Rogers, as he took on the character of Captain America for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011 and carried that role until his final appearance in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, where he passed on the mantle to another hero in the MCU, Anthony Mackies Sam Wilson. Evans has said he plans to slow down his acting, but has not done so yet.
While most people know him from the flagship MCU role, he has a much wider and more diverse filmography than some fans might believe. He has played another superhero in the past as The Human Torch in the Fox Marvel movies, as well as in adaptations of comic books, Tmnt, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Snowpiercer. He has also...

2023 teen comedy The Crusades may not have been a critical hit, but for Millenial viewers like myself, its a surprisingly refreshing example of how the genre has moved away from its problematic roots. Directed by Leo Milano and starring Rudy Pankow, Khalil Everage, and Ryan Ashton among the ensemble cast, The Crusades doesnt do much to reinvent the teen comedy genre as far as the plot goes.
However, while it may not be innovative, it is hugely entertaining in its own way. Its also a huge improvement on the tone set by the likes of American Pie, Superbad, and other films in the same genre from my own adolescence. The Crusades movie stands as proof that teen comedies can still be raunchy, edgy, and boundary-pushing without being problematic, and there are several reasons why the 2023 movie should have a much better reputation than its 22% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes suggests...

Sandra Bullock and Chris Evans have never featured together in a film but are reportedly good friends. The two have expressed their admiration for each other on several occasions, with Evans even claiming that he had posters of Bullock on his wall and was a huge fan. Naturally, the two were even linked together at one point.
Evans is currently married and Bullock was in a relationship with photographer Bryan Randall until his death last year. The two were linked almost ten years ago in 2014 when they were reportedly spotted together in West Hollywood. However, when asked about the rumored relationship, Bullock gave a sarcastic response.

The Superbad true story helped create a wild but undeniably authentic teen comedy that fans have praised for years. Directed by Greg Mottola, with a screenplay by Mottola, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg, Superbad tells the story of a group of friends navigating the last weeks of high school and figuring out what to do with the rest of their lives. The teen genre can vary widely, with most contributions being insipid, toned-down portrayals of real situations for teens that they're never allowed to approach the style of Superbad.
With more uses of the F-word than Scarface (187 to be precise), unabashed discussions of sex, and a candid approach to the questionable decisions made by minors, it's more genuine than peers like The Breakfast Club or Not Another Teen Movie. By treating its young stars with respect and authenticity, it managed to avoid coming across as fake and overwritten. Its true...

It looks like “fetch” really is not going to happen, and Lacey Chabert, who memorably portrayed Gretchen Wieners in the teen classic Mean Girls, should stop trying to make it happen — according to her daughter, who naturally had no idea what the term referenced.
The Hallmark actress, who is parent to 8-year-old daughter Julia along with husband David Nehdar, told the Today show’s Hoda Kotb, “When she was younger, she was like, ‘What’s fetch, why does everyone say that to you?'”
“She asked me a couple years ago, ‘Mom, do other people watch those movies that you make?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, baby, they’re not just for you,'” she said, wrapping up the amusing anecdote.
Of course, fans of the 2004 Tina Fey hit will remember Gretchen’s unsupported efforts to make a slang word popular. In one scene of the film — which hilariously traces...

The American Pie franchise has had a lasting impact due to its cast, originality, and memorable moments, making it the quintessential teen comedy. The best way to watch all the American Pie movies is either by release date or chronological order, simplifying the decision-making process. American Pie and American Pie 2 are the most successful entries in terms of box office gross, while American Wedding had the lowest earnings and weakest group dynamic.
Whether in chronological order or by release date, all nine American Pie movies in the franchise are sure to give viewers a good laugh. While the teen comedy genre has faded, American Pie left a strong impression on audiences mainly because of its cast, originality, and ridiculously memorable moments. Even though other teen comedies, like Not Another Teen Movie, She's All That, and Get Over It, have their supporters, American Pie reigns supreme as the quintessential teen comedy franchise.

If Chris Evans hated one thing about his role as Captain America, it was the time he spent making public appearances for the promotions. Evans shared that his anxiety made him a less-than-ideal candidate for such appearances. He mostly avoided appearing in shows where he had to perform in front of an audience, which meant he was one of the few MCU lead stars not to host an SNL episode.

When Kevin Daniels got a call from his agent’s mom that she’d pitched him for the lead role in a film she was producing, it didn’t take much for him to say “yes.”
“We had a zoom meeting and we kind of laughed and told some jokes and they were like, ‘Hey, you want to come down to Savannah?’ and I was like, ‘I like Savannah. That sounds nice,’” Daniels tells The Hollywood Reporter.
The film was Not Another Church Movie, a spoof comedy of Tyler Perry’s Madea series, written, directed and produced by Johnny Mack (Real Husbands of Hollywood), which is set to hit theaters on May 10. In it, Daniels, stars as the hardworking Taylor Pherry, a man given a mission directly from God (Jamie Foxx) to write a story about his dysfunctional family to save billionaire talk show host Hoprah Windfall’s plummeting TV ratings.

It's been more than 10 years since the world was subjected to the last "Scary Movie" sequel, but as is the case with any famous horror movie villain, it's practically impossible to keep this series down forever. And now Paramount Pictures plans to breathe new life into this particular franchise. The studio will be teaming up with Miramax to resurrect the "Scary Movie" franchise with a brand new installment. Production begins this fall, and the film will be in theaters in 2025.

When mother-daughter showrunners Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke began working on “The Way Home” with creator Marly Reed, they didn’t intentionally set their sites on the world of “Alice in Wonderland.” Instead, it came completely natural.
“As we started looking at this show and the concept, it became so much clearer to us how oddly echoing it all was to the book, and we sort of thought well, if it’s there, let’s use it. It’s a story about a girl that literally falls down the rabbit hole into a whole other world and is trying to make sense of what she’s seeing and of her adventures there,” Alexandra tells Variety. With seamless comparisons, they began bringing physical similarities and themes from the 1865 novel into Season 1.

Fun trivia: one of the working titles for Wes Craven's 1996 slasher satire "Scream" was "Scary Movie." Filmmaker Keenan Ivory Wayans got wind of this trivia, and decided in 2000 to make a film called "Scary Movie" intended to satirize the popularity of "Scream." The late 1990s were a curious time in popular culture, as there weren't too many dominant horror trends. Popular music was beginning to comment on its own self-awareness (see: "Flagpole Sitta") and irony became ironic. Self-reflection went from a healthy Socratic exercise into a loop of eternal recurrence. By 2000, we became so busy commenting on our own commentaries, that it was hard to see where we started. This is where "Scary Movie" dropped in.
Make no mistake, "Scary Movie" is unfunny, as are its many sequels. They're cheap, homophobic, and vulgar. Wayans took his model from spoof filmmakers like Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker, but aimed to make something...

Chris Evans believes his sci-fi bomb Sunshine deserved much better, as it showcased his acting talent and offered a unique, ambitious sci-fi experience. Sunshine's box office failure can be attributed to its release date and lackluster marketing, as well as a tonal shift in the third act that didn't resonate with most viewers. If Sunshine had been a success, it could have changed Evans' career trajectory, allowing him to pursue more mature roles and move away from blockbusters.
In a resurfaced interview Chris Evans laments how one of his best movies didn't deserve to bomb, and how it could have changed his career. In a similar way that Ryan Reynolds spent years right on the edge of becoming a movie star, it always felt like Chris Evans was one project away from breaking through. It's been nearly forty years, but people still remember "The A-Team." The action adventure series went on for five seasons, but stuck around in the public consciousness for much, much longer. People still remember the theme song, the cartoonish violence, the catchphrases. But although many viewers throughout the 2000s wanted a revival of the show, the TV series itself never came back.
Instead, we got a feature film in 2010 starring an updated A-Team, with the characters being veterans of the Iraq War instead of veterans of Vietnam. The film underperformed at the box office, however, and they never made a sequel. Unlike "21 Jump Street," a franchise where the later movies have now long-since overshadowed the TV show for most younger viewers, when people of all ages today think of "The A-Team," they're still almost certainly thinking of the show.
So what have the cast members been up to since...

Guilty pleasure movies from the 2000s offer a boost in spirits regardless of critical acclaim or story quality, providing entertaining atmospheres. Films from the 2000s feature bold fashion, cringe-worthy dialogue, and incredible soundtracks, making them great options for movie nights. Despite mixed reviews, the nostalgic and entertaining nature of guilty pleasure movies like Shark Tale, Not Another Teen Movie, and She's the Man make them enjoyable experiences.
Whether it's for a good mood or a bad one, guilty pleasure movies are a great way to boost spirits regardless of the story's quality or critical admiration, with the 2000s bringing plenty of worthy additions to this genre. The 2000s saw a variety of different movies hit the silver screen, and some of the best are cheesy and feel-good releases that may not have been praised for their stories, scripts, or filmmaking approaches. "Not Another Teen Movie" is a spoof of popular teen comedies from the '80s and '90s, exaggerating and satirizing their plotlines and characters. The movie references specific films like "She's All That," "Can't Hardly Wait," "10 Things I Hate About You," "Varsity Blues," "Pretty in Pink," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "American Pie," and "Bring It On" through its plot, characters, and scenes. The film features cameos from actors who starred in the parodied movies, including Molly Ringwald, Melissa Joan Hart, Sean Patrick Thomas, and others. It also includes Easter eggs and references to other iconic teen movies like "The Breakfast Club," "Never Been Kissed," "Cruel Intentions," and more.

Red One is Prime Video's upcoming star-studded action movie, and it has one of the streamers' most ambitious casts yet. It has become typical of streaming services to release big-budget action movies with a mouth-watering cast at least once a year, as 2021 saw the release of the Dwayne Johnson-starring Red Notice, and 2022 saw the release of the Chris Evans-starring The Gray Man. Now, 2023 will see those two bankable movie stars team up for Prime Video's Red One. However, the upcoming action movie is unlike any of the streaming service's previous big-budget action blockbusters, as Red One is a Christmas movie too.
The Red One story will be a unique take on a traditional Christmas story, as Johnson has revealed that the movie will be a mix between A Miracle on 34th Street and Hobbs & Shaw. That hints at tons of explosive action and a hilarious odd-couple crime...

Molly Ringwald was the queen of eighties teen movies. Her films with John Hughes, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink have all stood the test of time and are just as believed by audiences in 2023 as they were nearly forty years ago. But, despite being one of the biggest names of the decade, Ringwald found herself typecast for many years, with more adult roles in movies like Fresh Horses and The Pick-Up Artist falling flat. She also, notoriously, turned down the lead in Pretty Woman, the movie which made Julia Roberts a household name.
In the nineties, Ringwald struggled to break free of the Brat Pack label, even if she was never actually a part of that clique, but eventually embraced her place in the pop culture with a well-received cameo in Not Another Teen Movie (which people forget starred Chris Evans). Joy is one of the funniest characters on My Name is Earl, and she’s played by a familiar actress with an impressive filmography. My Name is Earl revolves around Earl Hickey, a small-time crook who renounces his life of crime, writes down a list of all his wrongdoings, and sets out to make amends after he’s introduced to the concept of karma. Joy is Earl’s ex-wife who left him to marry Darnell, the busboy at the Crab Shack. In spite of Joy’s dismissive attitude towards Earl (and her tendency to call him “dummy”) they remained close friends – Earl even took the fall for Joy’s crimes.
In stark contrast with Earl’s mission to do good and Darnell’s kind nature, Joy is bad-tempered, ill-mannered, and obnoxious. Joy does have a deep capacity for love, seen in the care and affection she has for her two sons,...

At last count, 11 notable actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have hosted "Saturday Night Live." Several of them were famous prior to their appearances in the MCU, but they still count: Natalie Portman hosted "SNL" prior to playing Jane Foster in the "Thor" movies, Paul Rudd first hosted in 2008, seven years before "Ant-Man," and Samuel L. Jackson first hosted back in 1998. Scarlett Johansson has hosted the show six times (!), and, of course, Robert Downey, Jr. was actually a regular cast member on "SNL" during its notoriously panned 1985-'86 season. That so many Marvel actors hosted "SNL" prior to their superhero shenanigans merely seems to indicate that the casting directors at the MCU are savvy about snagging big stars. Surprisingly, Willem Dafoe -- who was folded into the MCU in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" -- didn't host "SNL" until 2022.
Other MCU actors, however, didn't appear on "SNL" until it was time to promote their movies.

When The Way Home‘s Kat walked down a staircase in a red dress to the sounds of Sixpence None The Richer’s “Kiss Me” in Episode 5, it was hardly the first time her portrayer Chyler Leigh had paid homage to the iconic scene from the ’90s teen movie classic She’s All That.
Leigh tells TVLine that the producers of Hallmark Channel’s time-traveling family drama “definitely knew” that the actress had already once recreated the moment in which Rachael Leigh Cook’s She’s All That character unveils her makeover while descending a flight of stairs to a stunned Freddie Prinze Jr.

One of the most eagerly anticipated series of the spring is coming to Netflix on April 6. Ali Wong and Steven Yeun star in “Beef” as strangers involved in a road-rage incident. But rather than let insurance sort it out, the two drivers morph into lunatics bent on revenge, resulting in increasingly harrowing — and hilarious — circumstances.

More than just a meme, on April 13, Netflix unveils limited series “Florida Man,” which follows a struggling ex-cop (played by Edgar Ramírez) forced to return to his home state of Florida to find a Philly mobster’s runaway girlfriend. What should be a quick gig becomes a wildly spiraling journey into buried family secrets and an increasingly futile attempt to do the right thing in a place where so much is wrong.

Also coming to Netflix in April will be the final chapter of “Firefly Lane.
