A single mother's plight on getting the legitimacy of her child from the biological father forms the plot of this familiar and predictable drama, which dwindles through much of improbabilities and cliches. The wife fighting for the rights of the biological child of her husband too seems a much imitated theme from Kishore Kumar's 1954 classic with the same titlte, later reprised in "Swikaar Kiya Maine" (1984). The film misses no gimmicks and all in all repeats the usual framework of college gags, fights, conspiracies, and comedy with an unappealing lead.
Apart this, the film still grips a while and goes for an unconventional ending with a woman sacrificing her virtues as a wife to safeguard the legitimacy of her husband's child and former lover, which strangely escapes from the social orthodox. The lead lacks the charm, yet Ashok Kumar and Pran freshens the screen with their presence. Overall, the film is familiar and cliched in its storytelling yet retains some freshness in its treatment, for which you can give it a try, among the swarm of potboilers the 70s churned.
