Ali G unwittingly becomes a pawn in the Chancellor's plot to overthrow the Prime Minister of Great Britain. However, Ali is embraced by the nation as a voice of the youth, making the PM and his government more popular than ever.
During principal photography, Sacha Baron Cohen's trailer was robbed, with tracksuit costumes, a DVD player, a VCR, and a television set being stolen.
Me Julie, will you make me the happiest guy in the world?
Me Julie: Yes, Ali. Yes I will.
Ali G: Good. Let me shag her, then!
When Ali is chained to the fence as part of his protest, Ali can't resist and takes a bite out of a "chicken dipper" that is in the hand of one of the reporters. From the rear of the reporter you see him drop the remaining portion of the chicken into the box, when the view changes to a front-on shot, you see him drop the piece of chicken again.
At the end of the film over part of the closing credits, Ali comes on screen imploring the audience to buy all the merchandise.
