  • Laura Angel ably plays a dual role in Marc Dorcel's "Alexia & Cie", a most enjoyable bit of fluff from his glory period of a couple of decades back. It runs 130 minutes, considerably longer than his feature films then or now.

She plays the owner of the title publicity/photography agency bearing her character's name, with Philippe Dean as her partner/head cameraman Jacques. Film (shot on video in beautiful fashion by house cinematographer Serge de Beaurivage) is set in St.-Tropez and offers a hedonistic vacation-like view of the lovely beaches and environs, making for much outdoor sex. Opening has Laura rising nude from the waves, a vision of body beautiful perfection.

Minimal but highly effective story-line has a corrupt local aristocrat Baron Swank (played by Hugues Robert in a NonSex Role) involved in a blackmailing scheme that reaches to Alexia & Co., and threatens the company's future. He indulges his voyeurism by taking incriminating sex photos of politicians and celebrities in order to blackmail them, a con one would not ordinarily associate with high- powered types like himself. Angel infiltrates his gang and foils him, even as he thinks he's got the upper hand over her and her employees.

Many a beauty, including all-time Euro Porn queen Silvia Saint in a small role, fills the screen with loveliness one normally doesn't associate with porn, given the American/Chatsworth-dominating format. These girls are not necessarily the best-endowed in the breast department, but Dorcel and his team ensure that they look their best, makeup, tan and styling all at a perfectionist level. I believe in the long run his approach will prove more enduring than the "warts and all" Yankee method in staving off the forces of amateurism that are currently disrupting Adult Entertainment, analogous to the way that our "sharing economy" is putting all sorts of professionals ranging from taxi drivers to book sellers out of business.

Since Dorcel personally directed this feature (in addition to his usual producing and music scoring functions), he might well peek at it some 17 years later and get some inspiration to tweak his less effective, bordering on all-sex output of recent years.
  • This is a Dorcel production and unlike the usual misogynist, abusive content with women as mere sex toys for wealthy pig males, this one puts Laura in the spotlight. In addition, it happens on Azur Coast, so it feels like vacation with the sea and the sun... The opening scene with Laura getting out the sea totally nude and having a sun tan is amazing: Laura has a natural, perfect body and even when she does nothing, she appeals to our sense! Sure her last scene with her red wig is a bad choice but she is brave to shoot with the poor Dean! In addition, the scene of lesbian action with Sylvia Saint and the threesome with Kate More are really well done and totally exciting! So maybe it's because it has the boss directing but this Dorcel is a good one!
