Kairee

Amol Palekar,the director of Kairee a.k.a. The Raw Mango had earlier been popularly known for his comic roles in the hillarious comedies Naram Garam and Golmaal.As far as I know his works as a director also came in limelight for creating films on some very extraordinary but humane plots.I saw the movie Kairee on one of the regional channels in Uttar Pradesh,India where I live.The movie is about the growing up of a child in village and her relationships with different people specially her aunt Taani ( dynamically potrayed by debutant Shilpa Navalkar ).The script of the film is very powerful considering the fact that it has all the human ingredients pressed in a single rope.The landscapes in the film are used excellently as not only they add the touch of reality but also,I assure could be appealed by anyone from the world.Stage and film actor Manoj Bajpai once said that films are a director's medium,I sincierly hope that he should have seen this film because the performances by the actors is overwhelming and they steal the high points of the film from under the nose of their collegues.The film has the best products from the Maharastrian stage namely Mohan Gokhale,Atul Kulkarni and Sonali Kulkarni ( in a small role )and it only adds another cause to see the film.But if one performance which stand out it is that of Navalkar ( Taani Aunt )she is just fabulous not to forget the acting of Yogita Deshmukh as 'the girl' whose story the film is.
